A Table of Hope: a modern-day depiction of the Last Supper

"Table of Hope" typically refers to a concept or initiative centered around providing meals,
support, or assistance to those in need. It's often associated with community efforts, charities, or
organizations that aim to address issues of hunger and food insecurity. The idea is to create a
metaphorical "table" where people can come together, share meals, and find support. The painting was
inspired by the Last Supper,Jesus Christ is seen eating with homeless children rather than sitting with his
apostle.This painting depict poverty and structural modern issues in the Philippines.Jesus and the children
are eating on a large delivery box used for cargo shipments instead of a table.the children are completely
strangers to one another,holding stolen bags, eating together with a cat, sitting on empty iron containers,
or eating on the ground with food scraps. Each child in the painting has a story, inspired by a real child
Velasco met and helped with his foundation. Velasco said that these children shared two common
elements: poverty and the love of God. He believed that all of these children were loved by Jesus and had
a firm trust in God as a compassionate, loving father. Velasco died from kidney cancer in 2010, but his
work continues to raise awareness among many by showing the sufferings of Christ and Philippine
society through the arts. His widow, Queeny, says that despite battling cancer, Velasco found hope and
healing through his paintings.

The Table of Hope tells the story of children starving for love, highlighting their greater hunger
than a mere rice entree and emphasizing the importance of counting blessings and appreciating the food
on the table. The painter is trying to convey that Jesus loves everyone, regardless of their background.
Even though they are poor, Jesus is with them. The children in the picture have a strong faith in God. You
learn the meaning of courage. You learn the meaning of sacrifice. You see the beauty of love. Above all,
you feel the strength that comes from faith, hope, and trust in God. These impoverished children should
hold on to the truth that God will never abandon them, even if the walls of the earth crumble down. Also,
based on what we interpret from the picture, it's like the food is the communication. God is feeding them
with food, and by that, it's like telling the children that 'no matter what happens, I'm still here with you.
Guiding you and loving you'. Even though they have nothing or the earth is cruel, they still believe that no
matter what happens, God will not leave them. No matter what their background is, they are still loved by
God. And by that, they don't lose faith in God and still surrender to Him.

and understanding. This painting symbolizes the warmth and openness of sharing important moments,
highlighting the importance of love, acceptance, and learning from a young age. It encourages empathy,
