Borobudur is a buddhist temple.

It was built in the ninth century under sailendra dynasty of

ancient mataram kingdom. Borobudur is located in magelang, central java, indonesia.

Borobudur is well-known all over the world. Its construction is influenced by the gupta

architecture of india. The temple is constructed on a hill 46 meter high and consists of eight

steps like stone terrace. The first five terraces are square and surrounded by walls adorned

with buddhist sculpture in bas-relief. The upper three are circular. Each of them is with a

circle of bell shape-stupa. The entire upper structure is crowned by a large stupa at the center

of the top circle. The way to the summit extends through some 4.8 km of passage and

stairways. Borobudur Temple is the largest and most luxurious Buddhist temple in Indonesia.

The shape of this temple looks like a rectangular pyramid. This temple has many reliefs and

stupas.Because of the splendor of the temple, this temple is as attractive as a high mountain.

The charm of this temple is clearly visible from a distance. Borobudur Temple consists of 3

levels. The first/lowest level is called Kamadhatu. In the end there were a total of 160 reliefs.

The relief contains the story of Karmawibhangga/various stories of sin. At the second level,

namely Rudhatu. There are 4 terraces on this level. The terrace seemed to form a rotating

corridor. There are 1300 reliefs on the Rudhatu plain. Meanwhile, on the second level there

are several small Buddha statues. There are a total of 432 Buddha statues. The statue is in an

open alcove that extends along the fence. Kaide is a transitional form of Rudhatu and

arupadhatu. The highest level is arupadhatu. Moreover, at this level there are absolutely no

reliefs on the walls. The shape of the arupadhatu floor is a circle. There are 72 small stupas
here. All small stupas consist of 3 rows that seem to surround the entrance. The shape of the

small stupa resembles a bell. There is a buddha statue in the stupa. In the middle of

arupadhatu there is an entrance stupa. This stupa contains a buddha statue and is the largest

compared to other stupas. The view at borubudur temple is very beautiful, this temple was

even included in the 7 wonders of the world, because of its unique temple building with

extraordinary architecture. This is because every building in borobudur has its own

characteristics and meaning. Borobudur temple is a famous tourist destination that is much

sought after by local and foreign tourists. Not only is it a famous tourist destination for many

tourists around the world, borobudur temple is also included in the unesco world heritage site

list.
