1.1 INTRODUCTION
Normally, both forms will be required in a road design project, as will earth
movement from one part of the site to the next. Due to the high expense of disposal or
collection, this should be done with as little waste as possible or as little excess
material as possible. Cut and fill are earthmoving procedures for constructing
railways, roads, or canals in which the amount of material from cuts nearly matches
the amount of fill needed to make neighboring embankments, hence decreasing
construction labour.
During earthwork, tasks such as platform level, existing level, chainage, and
cross section must be completed and analyzed on a case-by-case basis. The earth
surface level is planned to meet the proposed design level. The majority of the
building requires a flat platform level for structural integrity. As a result, cut and fill is
required to achieve the intended platform level.
The overall volume of cut in this project is 1431151 m3, the total volume of fill
is 1439233.35 m3, and the total net volume is -8082.35 m3 with a percentage of -
0.56%. In short, the overall net volume is negative, and the project will require soil
imports.
