Topic: Illustrating Quadratic Functions

GUIDE CARD
Discussion:
Quadratic Function is a second-degree polynomial equation in two variables denoted by 𝑦 = 𝑎𝑥 2 + 𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐
where 𝑎, 𝑏 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑐 are real numbers and 𝑎 ≠ 0.
Since 𝑦 is a function of 𝑥, 𝑦 = 𝑓(𝑥) then, 𝑓(𝑥) = 𝑎𝑥 2 + 𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐 where 𝑎 ≠ 0.

A quadratic function is a many-to-one or specifically, a two-to-one relation. The value of the function depends
on the value of x. The domain, D, is the set of real numbers, ℜ.𝑫 = {𝒙/𝒙 ∈ 𝕽}. Its graph is a smooth curve
called a parabola.
