Reported from the 16 July in 2023, Former President Donald Trump has been tried and targeted by the

Grand Jury of America from “voting irregularities” made back in 2021. According to sources, information
has been proven that Trump’s legal appearance has been stemmed by Bidens Democratic Party to get
further support in election. If you don’t believe me, you can always fact check with Trump himself, his
loyalist and the varying 700 000 fake TikTok videos that have since been spinning up since 2021.

Living in a world circling with information, whether intentional or not, we find ourselves responsible for
the spreading of fake news in varying forms. Especially with the use of big tech social forums such as
TikTok. We can find ourselves interacting and consuming fake news with the touch of a button, swipe of
finger and the press of recording that is able to reach millions around the globe.

Best described as one of the world’s most popular apps with a current subscription of 1.4 billion users.
TikTok is a dynamic and engaging social media platform that had been originally intended for
entertainment. The app is a viral place for creativity, memes, dancing and connection; back in 2019 with
their traditional 30 second short style videos. However, much like many of the giant forums today, the
app has moved away from its traditional focus- to a multipurpose tool that is able to encompass itself
into our society, our daily live; and therefore, offering a new place between us and all the information
we interact with and its ability to control what we think on certain topics.

Unlike Facebook and Google, the effectiveness of the TikTok experience is not found in the critical mass
it requires from influential people and regular use of the app to become engaging.Through a scarily good
recommendation algorithm that grabs the user’s attention at a more primal level, relying on a clever
blend of music and action, satire and sensationalism.

Instead, the TikTok algorithm driven content works to personalize a user content, with the detriments of
promoting the echo chamber- a place in the app where users are only exposed to information that lines
up with pre-existing beliefs and thoughts. A filter bubble that makes people susceptible to fake news,
propaganda and blatant demagoguery. Users are continuously able to justify misinformation and
disinformation when their feed continuously confirms their biases.

Franklin Floer quote is correct in hinting the dangerous implications that comes with consistent
influence of technology in our lives. The quote taken from his book it illuminates an existential that the
Big Tech can impact our society by magnifying existing belief, and blinding us the diverse perspective
that make up our society. At the center of issues lies in the power we willingly give technology to
manipulate public opinion. From the synthesized and deep fake videos that are generated to you in
FORUPAGE, the politician that join TikTok to sway elections in their favor, and the trends approved by
the majority that mold society.

The NBC News posted in 2022, that in the world 1 in 4 people in their world currently get most of their
information from TikTok.Wher every year fewer people have faith in traditional media and find
themselves turning to social giants to access news through search, social media or mobile aggressors.
Between apps like Instagram and Facebook – TikTok is fastest growing social network with 20% of 18- to
24-year-olds using it for news.

To tackle the spread of fake news on giant forums, the option lies most predominantly in our hands. It is
fortunate that our participation in social media forums promotes the generation od certain types of
news and therefore the magnitude of disinformation, misinformation and desugar that is found in app.
Although it is good to say that we must hold these giant technology giants accountable by pressuring to
display information that it transparent and ethical – there will always be grey lines.

Instead, I propose that users should have the self-intuitive when dealing with fake news in
YOURFORYOUPAGE. This can be done by either cultivating digital literacy and making sure to
differentiate credible sources from ridiculous ones, to gain your own voice on certain topics. Yet it the
shift in the way information is being shared, is also a shift in the manner we accept information in all
forms and seek to expose ourselves to objective and credible sources of news that intend to stay closest
to the truth.

A good example being English Tiktoker Dylan Page. A 24-year-old media personality known for posting
news and current events that is engaging and educational to users. I’m not saying you will always find
the right Tiktoker but with critical thinking give chance to figuring out real news. Seeking news to adapt
to the change from traditional sources of news. This does not mean to reject the everchanging social
platforms such as Google or even CHATGPT later. But a society that can tackle echo chamber and engage
in constructive dialogue.
