Pakistan Studies was introduced as a compulsory subject along with Islamiat at the Secondary
and Higher Secondary level during the Bhutto regime in the 1970s. Its introduction as a separate
mandatory subject aimed to create patriotism among the youth and awareness of Pakistan
ideology. Similarly, it also aimed at enabling young Pakistanis to become the informed and
responsible citizens of the state. All Muslim countries see towards Pakistan in their crisis period.
Our geographical position is vital for the peace in the world. At international level global print
and electronic media need the service of experts of Pakistan affairs. At local level Pakistan
Studies is taught up to graduate level as a compulsory subject. So, you may get jobs in
universities. The scope of Pakistan studies is multi-dimensional. It encompasses, in brief, history
of the genesis of Pakistan, its geography, geo-politics, culture, religion, economy and other social
issues.

Pakistan studies is a subject that aims at enhancing students’ knowledge about history, culture,
and geography of Pakistan and to inculcate patriotism in the hearts of students so that they may
become a good citizen. The books on Pakistan studies of different levels cover the topics which
are repeated in all of them
.
