Format Cells

• Go to Home tab.
• Go to Font group.
• Select the cells you want to format.
• Font Color.
• Fill Color.
• Font Size.
• Add a border.
Format Painter
• Format Painter (Home tab – Clipboard group):
• Select the cells that contain the formatting you want to
copy.
• Click the Format Painter button.
• Select the cells to which you want to apply the formatting.
Define Styles
• Select the cells to which you want to apply the style.
• Go to Home tab.
• Styles group.
• In the gallery that appears, click the style you want to
apply.
Format Numbers
• Select the cells to which you want to apply the format.
• Go to Home tab.
• Go to Number group.
• Click the Number Format arrow.
• For example, one of the options is Currency.
• Go to Home tab, Styles group, click More at the corner.
• You will also find Currency option there (Accounting format).
• With accounting format the currency signs and decimal points
will be aligned.

Conditional Formatting
• Select the cells you want to format.
• Go to Home tab, Styles group.
• Click Conditional Formatting.
• Point to Highlight Cell Rules.
• Click Highlight Cells Rule.
• Pick a rule: for example, “greater than”.

• Top/Bottom Rules:
• Top 10 items.
• Top 10% of the items.
• Top 20% of the items.
• Bottom 30% of the items.
• Above average items.
• Below average items.
• To highlight the information we are interested in.
Data Bars
• The size of the bars is directly proportional to the data value;
that is, the data bar for $100,000 is twice as large as the data
bar for $50,000.
• Select the values, from Conditional Formatting click Data Bars.
Icon Sets

• You can display numerical differences by using icon sets (symbols).


• You can define criteria to associate an icon with.
• Select the cells, Click Conditional Formatting, From Icon Sets Click
on More Rules.
