Chapter: what is everything made of?

Topic: a solution
A SOLUTION
We know that liquids have
space between their
molecules.When we mix
something in a liquid
and it gets into the spaces,
we can say it has dissolved.
We have made a solution.
 A solution has two parts – Solute and Solvent
 A solid that dissolves in a liquid is called a Solute. Example
– salt, sugar.
 A liquid in which a solid is dissolved is called a Solvent.
Example – water.
MISCIBLE AND IMMISCIBLE LIQUIDS
 A liquid which can dissolve in water is called a Miscible
liquid, example – spirit, alcohol, glycerine.
 A liquid which does not dissolves in water is called a
Immiscible liquid, example – oil.
HOME WORK
(TO BE DONE IN THE NOTE BOOK)
Q.1. Give the difference between miscible and
immiscible liquids?
Ans.
A liquid which can dissolve in water is called a
Miscible liquid, example – spirit, alcohol, glycerine.
