First of all, lets pray and thanks unto our god ALLAH SWT who has been giving us some mercies and
blessings so we can attend and gather in this place in good condition and happy situation.
Secondly, may peace and salutation always be given to our prophet MUHAMMAD SAW. Who has guided
us from the darkness to the brightness from the stupidity to the cleverness, from Jahiliya era to the
Islamiyah era namely Islamic religion that we love. So, by his guidance we are able to differentiate the
good thing and the bad one, the right way and the wrong one in order to enter god’s paradise.

Standing in front of you all, I would like to deliver my speech under the tittle SANTRI DAY

National Santri Day on October 22, is a historical memory of KH Hasyim Asy'ari's Jihad Resolution. This is
an important event that moves Santri, Ulama and all community to move together, to fight against the
colonial forces, which happened on November 10, 1945.

the movement Santri has proven its contribution in maintaining the pillars of the state based on
Pancasila and Bhineka Tunggal Ika, the Santri stand at the front defending Indonesia from various
threats.

According to KH. Said Aqil Siroj, the commitment of santri and ulama in movement for Indonesia has
been starting from long time ago, in 1936 before Indonesia's independence, the santri declared the
archipelago as Darus as-Salam, not Darul Islam, which is a peaceful country. This statement is the fiqih
legitimation of the establishment of Indonesia based on Pancasila.

The journey of santri in guarding the unity of Indonesia, shows that the struggle of santri is in line with
the spirit of nationalism that K.H. Hasyim Asyari expressed through the jargon “Hubbul Wathan Minal
Iman”, which is loving the homeland is part of faith. Its proclamation from decades ago.

Hopefully, Santri always become the front guard of Indonesia.
