Unit 10- Pitch Script - Radio and Talk show:

The Brief:

The Brief I am going to do will be a radio and talk show which will be called Wake up to
Gabby. The reason I decided to do a radio and talk show is because I really enjoyed unit 5,
which was a unit which was based on creating our own podcasts in my first year on the
course. The genre of my radio and talk show will be pop.

Secondary Research:
For my secondary research, I conducted research into the social grading grid (which
segments target audience into different social groups) For example,it starts with A and B
being the richest and D & E being the poorest. I also conducted other research into
psychometrics (which categorises people with different spending powers. Next, I had to
research Audience Statistics which are figures that will help me change listening habits for
my target audience and the listening figures of different radio shows for when I create my
own radio and talk show. Lastly, I have also conducted research into Audience Profiles
which I have learnt about the similar age group, interests and types of music that they like. I
have also learnt what the codes and conventions are of radio and talk shows and I know that
these are the rules to follow when creating any media product but this will help me to make
my radio and talk show conventional above other professional products.

Primary Research:
For my primary research, I had to create a questionnaire to ask my target audience some
personal questions and some questions that are to do with radio. For example, For my
personal questions that I asked were; Do you drive, how old are you and how many people
do you live with? For my example, For my radio questions that I asked were: How many
times a week do you listen to radio, what content do you think should appear on a radio
show and what makes a good radio and talk show. Within my primary research, I also
analysed three different radio and talk shows to get inspiration and an idea for when I create
my own radio and talk show.
Who is my target audience?

My radio show will target people within the age range of 16 to 25. My target audience is most
likely to fall in the ABC1 bracket on the social grading grid. As a result, they probably have
quite a bit of disposable income. I found out that my target audience fit the psychometric
profiles, mainstreamers and aspirers as I think this is because most of the people enjoy
socialising with friends, going to nightclubs and going to live music festivals.

Audience Profiles:
When creating my audience profiles, I had to decide on two people that I can create two
separate audience profiles on. Once I had decided on the two people that I was going to
use, I had to ask them my questionnaire, record their responses and get a photograph of
both of them.

I decided to choose my best mate Baylee Bellis because I feel that she fits the target
audience and she is also interested in listening to Heart breakfast so this suggests that she
also enjoys listening and engaging with the radio. I also decided to choose my other friend
Paisley Jones because I also feel that she fits the target audience and she is also interested
in listening to Heart Breakfast and The Greatest Hits and this also suggests that she enjoys
listening and engaging with the radio.

How will my product appeal to my target audience?

My product will appeal to my target audience because I will include all of the necessary
sections that make a radio and talk show interesting and engaging such as having an
engaging intro and outro, an audience interaction segment and also include constant and
constructive feedback at different times. I will also play some pop songs that my audience
can listen to and that they can relate to. My interview with Clare will also help entertain my
audience with her experience of festivals and about her favourite albums that she enjoys
listening too.

Ideal Distribution:
My radio show would appear on Heart radio because it is based on my target audience as
they listen to this particular radio station. I would like my radio and talk show to be very
similar to Heart Breakfast with Jamie and Amanda. My song list will consist of these songs:
Forget Me by Lewis Capaldi, It’s not right but it’s okay by Whitney Houston, Location by
Dave ft Burna Boy and I’ll be waiting by Cian Durcot.
Pre- Production:

Throughout the Pre- Production stage, I have to complete a variety of different planning
sheets such as: The proposal for my radio show, I have also produced a production
schedule, location recess and risk assessments for where I am going to produce my radio
show. I also ensured to get my interviewer to sign the model release form so that they
understand how I intend to use their recording. Next, I have created a running order as a
guide that displays each of the sections that I am going to use as different segments in my
radio and talk show. I also produced a song list for each of the songs that I am going to play
throughout my radio and talk show.

This part of the process is important because I need to make sure that I get as much
information to make the product to its best and of a high standard. Additionally, this will
hopefully convince you that my radio show has been thought out and considered to fit for my
potential target audience. Thank you for listening.
