The Permanent Secretary

Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education

Banjul

Dear Sir,

Subject: Urgent Appeal to Reconsider the Decision Regarding Regional Posting for Senior
Secondary Principals

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to bring to your attention a
matter of significant importance concerning the recent finalization of regional postings for senior
secondary principals within the education ministry.

I understand that the Director of Education region two has diligently conducted a thorough
evaluation and assessment process to arrive at the concluded postings. It has come to my attention,
however, that one of the principals who has been assigned a regional posting has expressed
reservations and has thus far failed to report to his designated location ( Banjulinding upper and
senior secondary school).

While I appreciate the principles of fairness and consideration that underlie the allocation process, it
is crucial to emphasize the importance of adhering to the established protocols. Regional postings
are instrumental in fostering a balanced distribution of educational leadership and resources,
ultimately contributing to the overall improvement of educational standards across the board.

Allow me to bring to your attention some potential negative consequences that may arise should the
current decision not be revisited:

1. Disruption in Educational Stability: The refusal of a senior secondary principal to accept their
designated posting could lead to a period of uncertainty and instability within the affected
institution. This may result in an adverse impact on the educational experience of the students
under their care.

2. Undermining of Authority and Accountability: Upholding the integrity of decisions made by the
Director of Education region two is pivotal in maintaining a robust system of accountability. If
exceptions are made in this instance, it may set a precedent that could potentially erode the
authority of future appointments, promotions, and postings.
3. Unintended Precedent for Future Appointments: Should this refusal be condoned, it may open
the door for similar challenges in the future. This could create a scenario where appointments are
subject to a discretionary approval process, potentially leading to inefficiencies and complications in
the educational administration.

4. Possible Morale Impact on Other Principals: Other principals who have accepted their postings in
good faith may feel disheartened or demotivated if they perceive a lack of uniformity in the
application of posting decisions.

5. The fear Teachers copying:

A Teacher may also failed to report to his or her postings, failed to accept a particular shift, failed to
take a particular time table, failed to obey a code of conduct, failed to take any other responsibility
assigned to him or her etc and etc.

Given these potential ramifications, I kindly implore you to reconsider the current decision in
consultation with the Director ( s) and your management team. It is my sincere belief that upholding
the established protocols and ensuring that postings are honored will serve the best interests of our
educational system in the long run.

I am confident that your wisdom and discernment will guide you towards a resolution that upholds
the principles of fairness, accountability, and the greater good of our educational community.

Finally, my apology for distracting you. It is just that I cannot sit at a corner and be gossiping instead I
prefer sending you my thoughts.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Signed ......................
