Subject: Request for Reconsideration for the decision to defer enrollment in Ph.D Program

Dear Dr. Zuñiga:

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to respectfully
request a reconsideration of the decision to defer my enrollment in the Ph.D. Program at
Mindanao State University – Marawi City. I believe that I can provide additional information
and present compelling reasons that support my immediate enrollment in the program.
Please allow me to elaborate on the following points:

1. Personal Funding: I will no longer request to avail on the “Study now, pay slowly” and
instead, I pay for my own expenses throughout the duration of the Ph.D. program. I
understand the financial responsibilities involved and assure you that I have made
adequate arrangements to cover all necessary costs associated with my studies.
2. SGSL Status: While there has been no final decision from the Commission on Higher
Education (CHED) regarding my SGSL Scholarship status, I would like to point out
that even if I am required to pay, I will still be working in the institution. This means
that I can arrange for staggard payment through my salary to fulfill any financial
obligations that may arise.
3. Enhanced Safety and Convenience: I would like to request special consideration for
enrollment due to safety and logistical reasons. My husband, who will serve as our
driver, possesses valuable language skills, including proficiency in Maranao,
recitation of parts of the Quran, and the ability to read and write Arabic. His
attendance will not only provide added safety during travel but also enable better
communication and understanding in various contexts. Moreover, if I will defer my
studies this semester, it may also affect Ma’am Cherry Mae Villastique and Ma’am
Loeulla Joy Osorio because that would mean that they will have to resort to public
ride in going to Marawi.
4. Saturday Class Accommodation: Considering that we cannot attend Saturday
classes, the Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities promised to help
us arrange our classes with our professors. I believe that our joint presence in the
class (Ma’am LJ and I) could make it easier to negotiate and coordinate alternative
arrangements with the professors, thus ensuring a smoother academic experience
for everyone involved.
5. Institutional Asset and Program Expansion: Upon successful completion of the Ph.D.
program, my colleague, Ma'am LJ, and I will be equipped with the necessary skills
and knowledge to contribute significantly to the institution. We are enthusiastic about
the prospect of establishing a Master's degree program in English, which we believe
is greatly needed, particularly for Seventh-day Adventist Teachers where Saturday
classes are typically conducted in other graduate schools. This program could
potentially serve as an asset to the institution, attracting more students and further
enhancing its academic offerings.

In conclusion, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for considering my request for
reconsideration. I firmly believe that my enrollment in the Ph.D. program will not only
contribute to my personal growth and professional development but also bring value to the
institution and its academic offerings.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to a positive response
and the opportunity to commence my Ph.D. studies at Mindanao State University – Marawi
City.

Sincerely,

Angieross Sharon Valenzuela
