Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are glad to have you aboard this school year’s new ways for the conduct of classes under the New
Normal. We have discussed during our online orientation about the features of our learning modalities,
but we would like to formally ask your consent on the following:

1. Dry-run Sessions. Practice is important for mastery. Familiarity and conditioning are needed in
learning. It is a requisite for learners to undergo dry-run sessions for them to develop their
interest, hone their skills, and appreciate online learning. During the dry-run sessions, greet-and
-meet activities are being done with our students and it will continue until further notice. These
are not included in this year’s calendar of activities. The suggested activities, practice quizzes and
enrichment ideas are not graded and will not affect the students’ class standing at the end of the
semester/academic year. Also, the conduct of dry-run sessions is a free service extended by our
teachers to the learners to ensure the learners’ adaptability of our learning management system.
Our IT personnel are working hard in making necessary adjustments of our system based on the
feedback from both the teachers and the students after the practice sessions.

2. Asynchronous Activities. In cases where internet connectivity is a problem and learning must
continue, offline learning activities are assigned for the learners to work anytime during the day
but with support system in the home. Asynchronous learning does not only happen when the
internet connectivity is low, but it is rather intended for the students to work independently at
their own pace and for self-learning most of the time.

3. Attendance. Although we will have mostly asynchronous activities in class, teachers will still be
checking the attendance of the students. The mark in the attendance is either present or absent.
Students marking their attendance during class sessions is our way of monitoring and ensuring
students’ participation in the learning sessions.

4. Video Calls/Conferencing. The new normal teaching-learning platform suggests virtual

interaction through video calls/conferencing aside from the asynchronous sessions. These will be
pre-arranged and agreed upon by both the teacher and the students. The purpose is for giving
feedbacks and for consultations. We understand that some students use mobile data which is
costly and video conferencing consumes the load fast. This is why teachers agreed to have video
conference for consultation while their discussions are pre-recorded so that students can view
these presentations and videos whenever their internet connection are better.
The video conference will only take a maximum of 40 minutes wherein teachers and students ask
questions, interact, and discuss. This can be a way of ensuring and assessing students’ learning
and understanding. Also, video conferencing may be recorded for the purpose of reviewing class
events so that teachers can see how responsive students are to certain discussion strategies. In
addition, recorded video conferences will be shared to students’ Facebook group for everyone to
watch, especially those who missed the session. Since your child’s face, voice, and first name may
be displayed in the video, participation is voluntary. If you (or your child) decide that you do not
want to participate, he/she will still take part of the regular asynchronous classes and his/her
grade will not be affected.
