Chapter 5

Summary of Findings, Conclusion and Recommendation

This chapter presents the summary or the research work undertaken, the conclusion

drawn and the recommendation made as an outgrowth of this study.

Summary of Findings

The major findings of the study are as follows:

1.     What is the difference between Face-to-face class and Online Class based on student’s

perception?

The difference between Face-to-face class and online class based on the student's

perception is that the discussion of lessons are much longer in Face-to-face class than in online

class. Students also concurred that the discussion in Face-to-face class was more in depth and

comprehensive than Online Class. Students also agreed on the perception that they used more

resources in Face-to-face Class learning than in Online Class learning

2.     What does the student have experienced from the rapid transition of learning?

According to the data that were gathered, students agreed to the experience that

the teachers have been more understanding and considerate. The students have also

experienced convenience because of more relaxed and flexible learning. Another top

answer that the respondents have agreed on is that they found it uncomplicated because it

allows them to create and enjoy a schedule that best fits our day- to- day activities.
3.     What is the effect of transition from face-to-face class to online class to the learning

achievement of BSCA students?

The effect of the transition from face-to-face class to online class to the learning

achievement of the BSCA students is that they benefited because they are able to replay the

video lectures or discussion. Most of the respondents also agreed that they have access to the

same software that they are using on campus. The students also admitted that they benefited

because they got to hone the technical skills which a BSCA needed for their future jobs and

benefited because they have easy access to course materials and classroom discussions.

 4. What is the effect of the transition to online class to the grade retention policy being

implemented by this program to the BSCA students in terms of:

4.1Tariff 2 Final Grades

The effect of the transition to online class to the grade retention policy being

implemented by this program to the BSCA students is that the respondents had to study more by

themselves in order to adjust and pass the retention policy program. Due to the rapid transition,

the professors are more lenient when it comes to giving grades according to the respondents. The

students must also complete the requirements being required on time in order to pass the subject

during online class.

4.2 Customs 2 Final Grades

The respondents have answered the same when it comes to the effect of the transition of

online class to the retention policy being implemented by this program to the BSCA in terms of

their Customs 2 Final Grades. The students had to study more by themselves in order to learn
and follow the discussion. The professors of the Customs 2 subject became more lenient at this

time when it comes to giving grades. Completion of requirements on time is also a must for

every student who is taking this subject in order to pass the retention policy being implemented.

Conclusion

Based on the findings of the study, different conclusions are drawn. The researchers

conclude that there is a difference when it comes to learning from face-to-face class and online

class based on the student’s perception. The researchers also conclude that the students have

different experiences from the rapid transition of learning. There are advantages and

disadvantages to the students from the rapid transition. The findings revealed that there is an

effect of the transition of face-to-face classes to online classes on the learning achievement of the

BSCA students. Mainly they agreed that they benefited because they can replay the video

lectures or discussion. Most of the respondents also agreed that they have access to the same

software that they are using on campus. The students also admitted that they benefited because

they got to hone the technical skills which a BSCA needed for their future jobs and benefited

because they have easy access to course materials and classroom discussions. The findings

revealed that the rapid transition of online classes doesn’t affect the students much when it

comes to passing the retention policy because they adjusted themselves and the professors

understand the situation of every student.

Recommendation

Based on the findings and conclusions presented, the following recommendations are suggested:
1.  The researchers recommend that the students should have their schedule of

studying or study plan in order to learn and capture the lessons. The students should

learn how to manage their time, especially since they have a lot of time to do other

things other than studying.

2.      The researchers recommend the students to find a quiet place in order to eliminate

the distractions whenever they study. Eliminating the use of social media is a key to

being focused on studying.  It will keep the students more focused on what they are

doing and will help them to be more productive. By that, the students can beat the

deadline and submit the requirements on time in order to pass the subject, especially

there is a retention policy being implemented.

3.      The researchers recommend the students to use the resources available that will

help them to learn more and catch up with the lessons. Replays of the discussions are

available and the students can view it again and again to capture the knowledge. The

students can also join different webinars and tutorials available online to gain more

knowledge.

4. The researchers also recommend the students that they should learn to connect

with other people, especially with their classmates to gain more knowledge and don’t

be afraid to ask questions to the professors when there is confusion about the

discussion. Be active during the discussion.
