AVANTIS
Avantis Marine Limited was formed in 2019 to be compliance experts in the selection, installation,
and after-sales maintenance of exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS), ballast water treatment
systems (BWTS), and other marine compliance solutions.
With our highly specialised core team of Project Managers, Project Engineers, Electrical Engineers,
Commissioning Engineers and AfterCare Service Engineers, vessel owners can have confidence in the
swift and seamless delivery of all compliance services.
Recently the company has ventured into land-based projects, facilitating repairs and replacement for
UK based power industries.
Avantis has established procedures, work instructions and associated documentation for a
Management System designed to meet the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001. The system is designed
to provide and demonstrate conformity to specified requirements, which includes evidence that all
activities are completed correctly.
Our philosophy is to provide a global service with a focus on supplying top quality products, fast and
efficient customer service with safety as the highest priority with minimum impact on the
environment.

Quality Policy
Avantis Marine are experts in delivering and managing a wide range of services for the shipping and land-based power
industries, with a special focus on the installation of Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCS) and Ballast Water Treatment
Systems (BWTS).
We are experienced in all forms of compliance systems, engineering and supervision for repair, new-building, conversion
and retrofit, vessel data and performance management, and services for the acquisition of new assets.
We understand the processes thoroughly and provide whatever level of service required, from the full turnkey service to a
simple assistance on site or engineering. Our team has a diverse background across the shipyard/ ship management sector
and land-based power industries, and we are focused on saving money and preserving assets for our clients.
Avantis Marine are committed to the requirements and continual improvement of our quality system, and to comply with
the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001 where relevant.
Our intent is to provide the highest standard of design, service and quality for all products manufactured, supplied and
installed to our customer’s requirements. In doing this we recognise the need to balance our business aims whilst
providing adequate resources, control of the health & safety risks arising from our work activities and the effect our
activities may have on the environment.
We are committed towards risk analysis and mitigation built into business processes, displaying best working practice, and
the impact of our business.
We recognise that the quality of our products depends on the everyday actions of those in the company’s employment,
and are committed to developing our personnel’s skills through training and mentoring in both their professional and
vocational interests.

Group Scope
Management of marine and industrial projects, including fabrication, boiler and steam plant
refurbishment, welding, mechanical, instrumentation and electrical services.
All company staff as well as any sub-contractors operating on behalf of Avantis are required to
comply at all times with the requirements of the policy and procedures within this system.
The Compliance Manager is the Management Representative for Quality, and responsible for the
implementation and maintenance of the Group QMS, which involves:
• Co-ordination and monitoring of the operation of the QMS, including records of
management reviews, and audits, to ensure the continuing suitability and effectiveness.
• Achieving intended results whilst conforming to requirements.
• Ensuring integrity is maintained where improvements and changes to the QMS are made.
• Ensuring that the Quality Policy and Quality objectives are established for the QMS and are
compatible with Avantis context and strategic direction.
• Ensuring adequate resources are available to maintain and improve its effectiveness.
• Ensuring that all sections of Avantis operate the QMS effectively, providing the engagement,
direction and support to persons.
• Communicating the importance of an effective QMS and conformance requirements.
• To ensure the resolution of any non-conformity are identified and appropriate corrective
actions are taken.
• Ensuring the promotion of awareness of quality requirements throughout the organisation.
• Reporting to Directors on the performance of the QMS and any need for improvement.
• Promoting improvement and the use of the process approach and risk-based thinking.
• Supporting other relevant management roles to demonstrate their leadership as it applies to
their area of responsibility.
Avantis recognises that the QMS requires the full support of Management and that the responsibility
for effectiveness does not rest only with those personnel engaged purely in specific tasks, but with
all members of the organisation at every level.
In addition, the organization shall determine the environmental aspects of its activities, products and
services that it can control and those that it can influence, and their associated environmental
impacts, considering a life cycle perspective and assessing and mitigating the associated risks whilst
identifying opportunities for improvement.

Utilising the principle and model of Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA), procedures and instructions are
produced, with proactive monitoring to ensure commitments and objectives are met. Internal and
external issues are evaluated and the needs and expectations of interested parties are considered.
Procedures, work instructions and associated documentation have been established for the QMS,
and designed to meet the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001.
The system is designed to provide and demonstrate conformity to specified requirements, which
includes evidence that all activities are completed correctly.
The Quality Management System is developed by the Compliance Manager, in association with the
Head of Quality, and approved by the Chief Operations Officer.
Review and audit procedures have been introduced to enable management to check the effective
implementation of the documented procedures and instructions, which are subject to regular
examination and updating when necessary, to meet new or revised system demands.

One member of staff may take responsibility for more than one of the above positions within the
organisation.
• To ensure that Employees are provided with relevant information, instruction, training and
supervision.
• To ensure worker consultation and participation at all levels.
• Statutory and Regulatory requirements are met and communicated at relevant functions
and levels.
• Customer requirements are met and communicated at relevant functions and levels.
• Product and service risk and opportunities are identified and addressed to enhance
customer satisfaction.

Departmental Managers
Departmental Managers and Supervisors are responsible for implementing and maintaining QMS
policies within their sphere of responsibility and to participate when requested in the review of
performance. In addition to these responsibilities, Managers and Supervisors will also undertake
work to continually improve and promote the QMS.
Departmental Managers also have the authority if they consider there are quality issues identified,
requiring immediate intervention within the area that they control to:
• Stop a task
• Stop or change an operation
• Restrict access to certain areas
• Discipline members of their team for non-compliance
All employees are responsible for following the QMS requirements and conduct their general duties
in a way that does not expose other employees/ visitors or members of the general public to risk.

Note: All personnel are given the authority to immediate intervention to stop the work, if they have
cause for concern with regards to the product quality or safety of the ongoing work.
