Questioner About Students’ Perception about the Usefulness of Communicating

Using English in the Classroom

1. Questionnaire
A questionnaire is a number of written questions used to obtain
information from the respondent in the sense of a report about his person, or
things he knows (Arikunto, S., 2010). The measurement of this questionnaire was
carried out using the Likert scale. The Likert scale is a scale used to measure the
attitudes, opinions, perceptions of a person or group of people about social
phenomena [Iqbal, H., 2002.] . Answers to instrument items using the Likert
scale have gradation results from very positive to very negative aspects, can be in
the form of words that can be seen in the following table:

2. Lingkert Scale
The measurement of this questionnaire was carried out using the Likert scale. The
Likert scale is a scale used to measure the attitudes, opinions, perceptions of a
person or group of people about social phenomena [Hasan, Iqbal. 2002.] . The
answer to an instrument item using the Likert scale has a gradation result From
very positive to very negative aspects, words can be seen in the following table:

3. How to Calculate the Likert Scale Research Questionnaire
The Likert scale is a scale to measure perceptions, attitudes or opinions of
a person / group towards an event / social phenomenon, in accordance with the
operational definition determined by the researcher.

Terdapat 1 instrumen variabel sikap dengan jumlah pernyataan sebanyak 5 item. Skor
tertinggi pilihan jawaban adalah 5, skor terendahnya adalah 1 . maka perhitungannya
adalah sebagai berikut :

Skor tertinggi X jumlah item = 5 X 5 = 25

Skor terendah X jumlah item = 1 X 5 = 5

Interval = total skor tertinggi – total skor terendah

Interval = 6,666 dibulatkan 7

Jadi didapatkan kriteria interpretasi skor berdasarkan interval yang sudah dicari tersebut,
yaitu:

Hight = 19 – 25

Fair = 12 – 18

Low = 5 – 11

Penyelesaian akhirnya menjadi Total skor / jumlah responden maka:

430 / 20 = 21,5 Maka hasil cara menghitung kuesioner penelitian skala likert di atas
berada dalam kategori Hight.
