Activity Name Chalk Talk Reflection

Time ~10 min

Anticipatory Set I will ask the class what comes to mind when I say
the words “Chalk Talk” and choose a couple of
people to explain their ideas.
Teaching Presentation: Chalk Talk I will explain the rules of the chalk talk activity
and that instead of chalk, we will be using butcher
paper and markers in place of chalk. During round
one, the students are to move about the room to
the posters placed on the walls or tables and
answer the question on the paper. During round
two, the students are to move to a different paper
and either answer the question on the paper or
respond to another student’s reply, thus creating
the chalk talk.

Practice Students will take part in the Chalk Talk. Only

had enough time to answer two of the three
potential questions because of time. They get to
choose which two of the three they feel most
inclined to answer

Questions listed below: What are your thoughts

and ideas on….
1. Lesson planning at RHMS
2. Student and teacher culture in Poudre
School District
3. The CSU education practicum experience

Closure The teacher reads out a couple of responses they

noticed on the chalk talk papers. Allow students to
share what they found interesting if time allows.

Materials 3 pieces of butcher paper with a main question on

them, markers.

Assessment Reading through the responses that were written

on the chalk talk papers. Whether they added to
the conversation of the page with unique ideas.
