BATHING A NEWBORN

PREPARE WARM WATER

Fill up a basin with warm water and make
sure that the temperature is tolerable
enough for the baby

CLEAN THE FACE
Clean the baby’s face using wet cotton
balls.
1. Wipe both eyes from inner to the
outer part of the eye.
2. Wipe the forehead, cheek, nose,
upper part of the lip, cheek, chin,
neck, to the back of the ear in both
directions.

CLEAN THE HAIR

Hold the baby in a football hold position
on top of the basin and fold the ears with
your fingers. Wet the hair of the baby and
put a small amount of mild baby shampoo
and gently massage it on the baby’s head
then rinse and dry.

CLEAN THE BODY
Undress the baby and put in the basin.
Wet the body and pour a small amount of
mild soap into your hands and lather the
neck, shoulders, axilla, arms exept the
hands, then chest, abdomen down to
inguinal area, thigh, legs, and feet in a
circular motion. Last would be the back
then rinse thoroughly. Dry the baby after
and lay on a flat surface

ORAL AND CORD CARE

Using a Q-tip, clean the mouth of the baby
making sure that old milk is cleaned up.
And clean the umilical cord making sure
that it is dry. After that, you can dress the
baby comfortably.
