Mediums

● Dried Yellow Flowers - I collage and incorporate the yellow colors of the flowers to the hair of
Venus which represents the Bloom of something new. At the time of renaissance Sandro Botticelli’s
painting ``The Birth of Venus' ' is one of the nude paintings who gets out of the Artists’ normal
lineage; subjects like christianity-nudity of Adam and Eve’s nude painting. This represents the
beauty stand to adore a different statue or a different representative of much more wider reforms.

● Cotton - The painting is fairly pale in color and cotton best resonates with the paleness and the
gentleness of the sky. It also represents the softness of the Painting. The Male in the left corner
blows out wind, I used cotton for Zephyr is the God of gentlest wind in greek mythology. ( Zephyr
to Venus )

● Bubble wrap - I used Bubble wrap for the water. It suits the patterns in the Original painting and
the transparency of water. Bubble wrap also represents arrival or A deliverance of newness . The
painting represents a breakthrough in the water in a not bombarding way.

● Watercolor- I used watercolor because it suits the Painting’s luminous feels and the elements we
see in the area of water like shells fit the technique.

● Stems and leaves- Stems and leaves Represents the Nurturing as like a Mother and groundness of
the message and its realization that comes timely. The common stills of the original painting also
have leaves and stems so it mirrors the painting much more.

Techniques

● Watercolor technique- I think water color is best Medium if you are painting a lot of Sky and Sea
on your subject cause it was easy to render the smoothness of it through the stroke of the color
pigments in water. It does also give grace in transparency and depth.

● Collage- It was perfect to do collage in the trees cause it is easily done yet realistic looking plus it
creates shadows and texture.
● Mixed Media- I didn’t go far with the materials because I wanted to still connect to the essence of
how Venus represented Beauty, femininity and love.I actually used the dried flowers from The
Mothers day’s bouquet we have at home, like a Woman it represents the gift of birth.

Integration of Elements/Principles of Art (In a maximum of two sentences, explain only the applied

● Appropriation
The painting is relevantly contemporary because of how Other
Artists connect with it highly through its message.
A lot of Pop culture Artists re create the painting which lead
the subject of Venus in becoming an Icon that releases
a lot of faces but with the same root. As to “Birth” and it echoes and touches a lot
of human lines. Because as a civilization we continue to become contemporary
if we always seek to look forward and that is
newness; whether in our Society, situation, Leaders or system.
And history helps but creating with the help of history
is the birth of something much more beautiful.

● Space
I think it was easy to recreate a painting when the original
painting already has harmony with its subjects. That’s why the spacing with the final output is still
carrying on with the mood of the painting because I used exactly what is needed to be there to
create a 2-D Artwork.
● Hybridity
It was an enjoyable task because it was just looking out for materials with mirroring rationale for
the painting. “Birth of venus” was an easy on the eyes kind of output but the topic is deep so I
wanted the materials to be direct to the point so the message would be clear and unfantasized.
Which is a bloom for another milestone for the new generation
Brief Explanation
Since The painting is a weapon of Sandro Botticelli to be a Starter, to be unafraid, to be out there,
fully unclothed, unfiltered and unbothered to be express a new to the norm of where he is from
and using the essence of gentleness that still untangles issues and equally powerful as the one who
uses aggressions. He creates a new point of view for the next artists to spark newness either in the
means of society or self that has a burning desire for a change; one who paved a new way gives a
highway of other more-new paved ways.
