USE OF BIODIESEL FUEL OVER B20 TO B30 IN INDONESIA Local suggest activity
FOR KOMATSU ALL SECTOR MACHINE AND FORKLIFT
1. Purpose
This service tips is applied to Komatsu construction machine and forklift using over B20to B30 biodiesel,
which is available in Indonesia from January 2020. For those using up to B20 biodiesel, please refer to
service tips ST14-02C

2. [ Biodiesel Terminology ]
Biofuels Fuels produced from renewable resources.
Biodiesel A fuel comprised of methyl or ethyl ester-based oxygenates of long chain fatty
acids derived from the transtransesterification of vegetable oils, animal fats,
and cooking oils. These fuels are commonly known as Fatty Acid MethylEsters (FAME)
or Fatty Acid Ethyl (FAEE). For example, Rapeseed MethylEster (RME),
Soy Methyl Ester (SME) and Palm Methyl Ester (PME) aretypical FAME. Jatropha
Methyl Ester (JME) and Sunflower Methyl Ester(SFME) are also FAME. Biodiesel
properties are similar to those of dieselfuel, as opposed to gasoline or gaseous fuels,
and thus are capable of beingused in compression ignition engines
.In Indonesia Palm Methyl Ester (PME) is used.
Petro diesel Diesel fuel produced purely from petroleum. Petro diesel can also bereferred
to as distillate diesel
Biodiesel A fuel comprised of a mixture of Petro diesel (B0) and 100% biodiesel(B100).
fuel blends A biodiesel blend is typically designated by the percentage of biodiesel in theblend.
For example, B5 is a fuel containing 95% Petro diesel and 5 % B100.

3. [ Warranty and the use of Biodiesel Fuel in Komatsu Machines ]

Komatsu Ltd and Komatsu Indonesia warranty will cover failures that are a result of defects in material
or factory workmanship. Engine damage, service issues, and / or performance issues , to becaused by
the use of biodiesel fuel not meeting the specification sas outlined by this news are not considered to be
defects in material or workmanship and then are not covered under Komatsu Ltd. Warranty.Komatsu Ltd.
will assure the quality of machines using the following biodiesel fuel (BDF) blends :

Higher mixing ratios of biodiesel could deteriorate rubber depending on rubber materials. NBR fuelhoses
or O-rings are being used on some of machines. Please replace them with *1HNBR fuel hoses or O-rings
when using blended diesel fuel over *1B20 to B30. Fuel hoses and O-rings are important regular
replacement parts. Please exchange them at every 4000 hours or every 2 years, whichever first.

Exchange procedures can be found in the service news which will be issued separately.
*1Those fuel hoses (drain hoses, etc.) and O-rings that are not used in harsh conditions
(temperature,pressure, flow rate) are excluded.
*2When using up to B20 biodiesel, please refer to the service tips ST14-02C.

When using biodiesel fuel blends to operate machines, observe the following precautions.
Please note that use of blended biodiesel fuel in machines with engines of other than Komatsu
or Cummins isnot approved. Refer to recommendations in other sections.
