STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This research was conducted to determine the prevalence and associated factors of

academic burnout syndrome among third year and fourth year nursing students at Olivarez

College Tagaytay in the academic year 2023-2024.

The research was intended to find the answers to the following questions:
1. What is the level of exhaustion as perceived by the participants in terms of:

1.1 I feel emotionally drained by the end of my class.

1.2 Working with my classmates all day long requires a great deal of effort.

1.3 I feel like the activities are breaking me down.

1.4 I feel frustrated by my class.

1.5 I feel I do too many activities all day.

1.6 I feel very tired every time I wake up in the morning.

1.7 I feel like I’m at the end of my rope.

2. What is the level of depersonalization as perceived by the participants in terms of:

2.1 I feel I look alter certain patients/clients impersonally, as if they are objects.

2.2 I feel tired when I get up in the morning and have to face another day at duty.

2.3 I have impression that my patients/clients make me responsible for some of their

problems.

2.4 I am at the end of my patience at the end of my duty hours.

2.5 I really don’t care about what happens to some of my patients/clients.

2.6 I have to become more insensitive to people since I’ve been on duty.

2.7 I’m afraid that I’m going to fail.

3. What is the personal achievement as perceived by the participants in terms of:

3.1 I accomplish many worthwhile things in my duty hours.


3.2 I feel full of energy.

3.3 I am easily able to understand what my patients/clients feel.

3.4 I look after my patients’/clients’ problems very calmly.

3.5 In my duty, I handle emotional problems very calmly.

3.6 Through my duty hours, I feel that I have positive influence on people.

3.7 I am easily able to create a relaxed atmosphere with my patients/clients,

3.8 I feel refreshed when I have been close to my patients/clients at my duty hours.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The research sought to identify the prevalence and associated factors of academic burnout

syndrome among third year and fourth year nursing students at Olivarez College Tagaytay in the

academic year 2023-2024.

Specifically, the study intended to identify;


1. the level of exhaustion as perceived by the participants in terms of:

1.1 I feel emotionally drained by the end of my class.
