Importance of Multimedia tools allow students to visually represent polynomial

Technology operations, making abstract concepts more concrete. While it is
technically possible to complete a project on polynomial operations
without multimedia tools, the use of such tools significantly enhances
the learning experience. Multimedia tools allow students to express
their understanding in a personalized manner. This individualized
expression is lost with traditional methods. Other types of technology
can be graphing tools such as Desmos.

Internet Safety and 1. Online Presence and Privacy: students sharing personal
Student Privacy information or inadvertently revealing their identity through
multimedia presentations.
 Minimize Risks: Encourage the use of pseudonyms or initials
instead of full names in presentations.
 Common Internet Safety Policy: Enforce a policy that emphasizes
the importance of protecting personal information online.
 Alleviating Concerns: Hold a parent meeting or provide
information sessions to explain the learning experience,
emphasizing the educational benefits and safety measures in place.
2. Inappropriate Content: risk of students including inappropriate
images, text, or links in their presentations.
 Minimize Risks: Clearly outline content guidelines and
expectations. Monitor presentations for appropriateness.
 Common Internet Safety Policy: Reinforce the school's acceptable
use policy, specifying consequences for inappropriate content.
 Alleviating Concerns: Obtain explicit consent from parents for
students to use multimedia authoring tools, making it clear how
their child's privacy will be protected.

Universal Design Engagement: Tic Tac Toe is inherently engaging, promoting friendly
Rationale competition and collaboration among students. The game format
encourages participation and active involvement.
Representation: The Tic Tac Toe board visually represents students'
progress in factoring. This provides a clear representation of their
successes and challenges.
Action and Expression: Working in pairs allows students to collaborate
in solving factoring problems. This promotes social interaction and
provides an opportunity for collective problem-solving. Also, students
have the flexibility to choose their factoring strategy.

Lesson Idea Students will actively engage with polynomial factoring through a Tic
Tac Toe activity, aligning with the standards related to factoring
polynomials. Teachers will guide students in pairs, providing support
and differentiation as needed. The project will be introduced with a
brief review of polynomial factoring concepts, followed by an
explanation of the Tic Tac Toe activity. Students will be divided into
pairs, and they will be playing online Tic Tac Toe on one screen and a
factoring problem sheet.

Student learning will be assessed through observation of their factoring

attempts during the game and participation in the debriefing discussion.
To extend student learning to a higher level, an optional extension
activity could involve creating more complex Tic Tac Toe boards with
advanced factoring challenges. Feedback to students will be provided
through both informal observation during the activity and a structured
debriefing session.

Design Reflection By combining a familiar game format with the mathematical concept
of polynomial factoring, the lesson will engage students in a way that is
both enjoyable and educational. To extend the lesson, students could be
challenged to create their own Tic Tac Toe boards with increasingly
complex factoring problems. This extension activity not only reinforces
their understanding but also requires them to think critically about the
factors they choose and the difficulty level of the problems. Other
technology can be digital collaboration tools, such as online
whiteboards or platforms like Padlet, could facilitate virtual
collaboration among students, especially in situations where in-person
group work may be challenging.
