STANDART BOLTING TOURQUE OF CAT 3516

1. MAIN BEARING:
Install main bearing cap with FRONT and caps part number toward front of the block

a. Tighten the bolt in latter sequence to 140 ± 10 lb.ft


b. Tighten the bolt more………………… 180º ± 5º

c. Thickness of spacer plate : .4848 ± .0010”


d. Bore in block for main bearing, STD : 6.6828 ± .0008”

2. CON-ROD CAP:

a. bolt A and B : 65 ± 4 lb.ft


b. bolt C and D : 65 ± 4 lb.ft
c. Tighten each bolt more ……………..90º ± 5 º

d. Heat for con-rod pin bearing to temperature of …………350º F to 500º F

3. CYLINDER LINER:
Bore in liner new: 6.693 to 6.702”
Thickness of flange liner: .498 ± .001”

4. LINER PROJECTION:
1. Install gasket and spacer plate, install cover washer and bolt
to hold spacer plate thirteen the bolt evenly four steep
 10 lb.ft
 25 lb.ft
 50 lb.ft
 70 lb.ft

2. Install tool liner projection, Tighten bolts for cross bar evenly four steep
 5 lb.ft
 15 lb.ft
 25 lb.ft
 50 lb.ft
3. Average Measurement from any cylinder: .0023” to .0078”
Maximum permissible deferent between all four measurements: .002”
5. CAM SHAFT
End ply : . .007” to 025”
Cam shaft gear bolting torque :100 ± 11 lb.ft
Gear magneto tighten to : 270 ± 30 lb.ft
Hit bolt and tighten again : 270 ± 30 lb.ft

6. FLY WHEEL

Fly wheel housing tighten 5/8-13 NC : 150 ± 20 lb.ft


½-11 NC : 75 ± 10 lb.ft
Fly wheel tighten bolt : 840 ± 44 lb.ft (put the thread lubricant)
Fly wheel bore and face run-out : max .006”
Damper to crank shaft tighten the bolt to : 820 ± 75 lb.ft (190 x 4 +10%=830 Lb.Ft)

7. CRANK SHAFT
End ply : .007” to .025”
Oil clearance for con-rob bearing : .0042” to .0086”
Oil clearance for main bearing : .0048” to .0095”

8. CYLINDER HEAD
Tighten all bolt to : 22 ± 4 lb.ft 6 5
200 ± 26 lb.ft
300 ± 15 lb.ft 4 2

valve clearance IN: .020” EX: .040”
tighten nut to : 50 ± 11 lb.ft 8 7

VALVE SETTING :

TOP I, IN : 1 – 2 – 5 – 7 – 8 - 12 – 13 - 14
EX: 1- 2- 3- 4- 5- 6- 8- 9

TOP 16 IN : 3 - 4 - 6 - 9 - 10 - 11 - 15 - 16
EX : 7 – 10 – 11 – 12 – 13 – 14 – 15 - 16
