Decisions of the
Council of Ministers Headed
by the Chief Minister
Why In News?
¾ On January 3, 2023, in the meeting of the Council
of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh
Chouhan, along with approval of Rs 1807 crore 57
lakhs for 45 CM Rise schools, many other important
decisions were taken.
Key Points
¾ In the first phase of the CM Rise scheme, 275 schools are
being developed by the School Education Department
in the state. Out of these, DPRs were prepared for
the construction of 45 schools and proposals were
presented before the Project Testing Committee. In the
sequence of the departmental proposal, it has been
decided to construct 45 well-equipped schools on the
recommendation of the Project Testing Committee.
¾ A total of 9 thousand 200 cm rise schools are to be
constructed in the state. Its in-principal approval
from the Council of Ministers has been issued in July
2021. Out of this, 370 schools are being constructed
in the first phase, of which 275 schools are being
constructed under the Education Department and
the remaining 95 schools under the Tribal Affairs
Department. In the past, 73 schools with a cost of
Rs 2 thousand 660 crore have been approved by the
Council of Ministers.
¾ The cabinet decided to increase 433 new PG seats
in the medical colleges of Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur
and Rewa. Administrative approval has been given
for a total of Rs 438 crore 40 lakhs for all the three
medical colleges.
¾ With the increase of PG seats for postgraduate courses
in various departments of Medical College, Indore,
Gwalior, Jabalpur and Rewa, additional number of
subject-specialist doctors will be available to the
state every year.
¾ The Council of Ministers approved the plan to provide
coaching for national competitive examinations to
tribal students from prestigious institutions at the
divisional level and to conduct offline coaching every
year and online coaching pilot project for the next 4
years. Financial burden 30 crores 54 Approved lakh
71 thousand rupees.

¾ In this scheme, 1600 students will be benefited from
offline coaching for offline coaching from the year
2022-23 to 2023-24 (according to the 2-year course).
According to the announcement of the Chief Minister,
a total of 250 students are targeted to be benefited in
4 years from the value of 25 students from 10 special
schools for online coaching from class 9th to 12th.
¾ New categories and prize money have now been fixed
by the Council of Ministers while revising the plan to
encourage consensus and unopposed elections in the
election of panchayat representatives. 5 lakhs to such
Gram Panchayat whose Sarpanch has been elected
unopposed. Rs 7 lakh for the post of Sarpanch if the
current election and the previous election are held
continuously unopposed; Such Gram Panchayat whose
sarpanch and all Panch’s were elected unopposed,
Rs 7 lakh; Gram Panchayat whose sarpanch and all
Panch women have been elected Rs 12 lakh; It was
decided to give 15 lakh rupees for the unopposed
election of women on all the posts of Sarpanch and
Panch in Panchayat.
¾ It was announced by the Chief Minister at the
state-level orientation, training-cum-conference of
Sarpanch’s on December 7, 2022, that the honorarium
of Sarpanch’s would be increased from Rs 1,750 to
Rs 4,250 per month. In this context, the order issued
by the Directorate of Panchayat Raj was ratified by
the Council of Ministers. With this, sarpanches of
23 thousand 12-gram panchayats of the state will
get an honorarium of Rs 4,250 per month including
telephone and hospitality allowance.
¾ According to the provision of the ‘Grain Bank’ scheme
of the Tribal Affairs Department, the loss to the
government due to non-receipt of foodgrains worth
Rs 15 crore 75 lakhs, distributed to poor helpless tribal
families through 2846 grain banks, amounted to Rs 15
crore. Approved the decision to write off Rs.75 lakh.
¾ Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana,
there was a provision to give Rs 5,000 to eligible
pregnant and lactating mothers for the first delivery.
In the new guidelines of the scheme, the cabinet
gave approval to give 5 thousand rupees on the first
delivery along with 6 thousand rupees to the eligible
beneficiary of the scheme on the birth of a girl child
on the second delivery. Approval was also given to run
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana 2.0 in all the
districts of the state as per the changed guidelines in
the ‘power’ component of ‘Mission Shakti’.

Khelo India Youth
Games-2022 Mascot and
Torch will be Unveiled
Why In News?
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan
said that the mascot, torch and anthem of Khelo India
Youth Games-2022 will be unveiled in a colorful program
at Shaurya Smarak in Bhopal on January 7.
Key Points
¾ Madhya Pradesh is hosting the fifth edition of Khelo
India Youth Games-2022. In this grand sports event to
be held from January 30 to February 11, 6 thousand
players will excel in 23 game venues of 8 different
cities for 13 days.
¾ The fifth edition of Khelo India Youth Games will be
held in eight cities of the state - Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain,
Gwalior, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat and Khargone
(Maheshwar). A game (cycling) will be held in Delhi.
¾ For the first time, water sports i.e. kayaking-canoeing,
canoeing and fencing competitions will be part of this
edition of Khelo India Games.
¾ 303 international and 1089 national officials will
participate in Khelo India Youth Games 5.0. About
2,000 volunteers will be stationed at different game
venues for Khelo India.

illegal Use of Electricity
Why In News?
According to information received from the Madhya
Pradesh Public Relations Department on January 6, 2023,
the Central Zone Electricity Distribution Company has
announced a reward scheme to prevent power theft.
Key Points
¾ There is a provision for payment of compensation
subject to prescribed conditions for reporting illegal
use. On receipt of the information, 10 percent of the
amount will be paid to the successful informant. There
is no maximum limit for this amount.

¾ In addition to the company headquarters and regional
headquarters, information about illegal use/theft of
electricity can be given by the Central Zone Power
Distribution Company to the Regional General Managers
in writing or telephone. It will be the responsibility
of the concerned officer to keep the information of
the informant confidential.
¾ The officers and employees of the company will not
be considered as informers. The incentive amount
will be paid to the informant from the company
headquarters. The incentive amount will be credited
directly to the bank account of the informant.
¾ Departmental officers and employees who make
cases and collect money will also be given two and
a half percent amount as incentive.
¾ A Vigilance Cell has been set up at the company
headquarters for the implementation of this scheme.
Information can also be sent to this vigilance cell.
Special Achievements
Achieved by the
Water Resources
Department in Irrigation
Why In News?
On January 6, 2023, The Madhya Pradesh Water
Resources Department released the details of several
achievements achieved in the field of irrigation over the
years.
Key Points
¾ Speaking on the occasion, Madhya Pradesh Water
Resources Minister Tulshiram Silawat said that irrigation
potential has increased by 3 lakh 48 thousand hectare
area in the last two years.
¾ At present, 37 lakh 7 thousand hectare irrigation
potential has been developed by the department.
Under the command of Tawa project, farmers are
getting irrigation facility in 89 thousand hectare area
for Zaid crop
¾ In the year 2020-21 and 2021-22, revenue of Rs 840.3
crore has been recovered. In 2022-23 till September,
Rs 266.11 crore revenue has been collected.
¾ The department has developed one lakh 16 thousand
hectare irrigation potential against the target of
developing one lakh 15 thousand hectare irrigation

potential in the year 2020-21. At the same time, new
irrigation potential has been developed in one lakh
71 thousand hectare area against the target of one
lakh 70 thousand hectares in 2021-22. The target of
increasing the total irrigation potential to 40 lakh
hectares will be completed by December 31, 2023.
¾ A total of 126 new major, medium and minor irrigation
projects have been started by the department in
Madhya Pradesh in the last two years. These include
four major, 10 medium and 112 small projects. The
cost of all these 126 irrigation projects is Rs 6,700
crore. These new irrigation projects will develop
irrigation potential of 3 lakh 34 thousand hectares.
¾ In Madhya Pradesh, work on the much-awaited Ken-
Betwa Link National Project will be started soon. The
Rs 44,605-crore national project will provide irrigation
facilities in 8.11 lakh hectare area of drought-hit
Bundelkhand region of the state. Also, there will be easy
supply of drinking water to about 41 lakh population.
¾ The project will generate 103 MW of power, which will
be fully utilized by Madhya Pradesh. The Ken-Betwa
link project will benefit 2040 villages of 28 tehsils of
10 districts of the state.
¾ Atal Bhujal Yojana (Atal Jal) has been launched with
the objective of increasing the ground water level,
removing the drinking water crisis and providing
irrigation facilities in Bundelkhand region of Madhya
Pradesh. In this project costing about Rs 314.54 crore,
works are being done for water conservation and
improvement of ground water level in 678 villages
of 9 development blocks of 6 districts of the state
with public participation.
¾ The Rs 6,601 crore ‘Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia New
Multi-Purpose Irrigation Project’ is being launched
for irrigation and drinking water supply in Gwalior
and Chambal regions of Madhya Pradesh. With this
project, irrigation facility will be provided in 2 lakh
hectare area in Guna, Shivpuri and Sheopur districts
of the state and 6 reservoirs will be constructed.
Also, irrigation, drinking water, fisheries, tourism and
employment opportunities will increase. The ground
water level of the area will also increase.
¾ Significantly, Madhya Pradesh is the leading state in
the country to formulate schemes based on micro
irrigation system. Modern pressurized pipe based
micro irrigation system is being used in 55 large and
medium irrigation projects currently under construction
of the department.

¾ Madhya Pradesh is the leading state in the country
to constitute an expert committee to implement
the provisions of the Dam Safety Act-2021 by the
Water Resources Department. A ‘Dam Safety Review
Panel’ has been formed in Madhya Pradesh. In the
last 5 years, 25 dams have been repaired at a cost
of Rs 148 crore. In the next five years, 27 dams will
be protected and repaired. For this, Rs 551 crore has
been approved in collaboration with the World Bank.

Challenge Car Rally, 2022
Why In News?
On January 8, 2022, Madhya Pradesh Governor
Mangubhai Patel launched the 17th Blind Challenge Car
Rally, 2022, organized in Bhopal by NGO Aarushi .
Key Points
¾ The rally was organised by NGO Arushi in association
with Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, Indira Gandhi
Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Chief Electoral Officer
and Hotel Taj Lake Front in collaboration with LIC,
Madhya Pradesh Tourism and Aquarius.
¾ This year the rally was named ‘Humsafar’ by Gulzar
Sahab giving the message that we have to make all
tourist places and other public places disabled friendly
and include the disabled in every way.
¾ The competition was divided into two categories- 1.
The expert category that has been the winner in any of
Aarushi’s car rallies in the past. 2. Novice classes who have
not won any rally or are participating for the first time.
¾ The contestants who finished with minimum penalty
points were declared winners. There were one penalty
point for each minute delay and five penalty points
for entering a minute earlier at check points.
State Land Acquisition
Board Constituted
Why In News?
On January 10, 2023, the State Government has
constituted the ‘State Land Acquisition Board’ to complete
and review the proceedings in the Right to Fair
Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition,
Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act-2013 within the
time limit.

Key Points
¾ It will be the responsibility of the Board to monitor
land acquisition projects, review rehabilitation and
rehabilitation work, simplify procedures, obtain
services of subject experts and institutions and submit
recommendations to the State Government.
¾ Under these obligations, the Madhya Pradesh State
Land Reforms Commission has also been declared
as the ‘State Land Acquisition Board’.

Inaugurated the 7th Global
Investors Summit in Indore
Why In News?
On January 11, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi
virtually inaugurated the 7th Global Investors Summit at
Brilliant Convention Centre Indore. The summit will
conclude on January 12.
Key Points
¾ President of Guyana Dr. Mohammad Irfan Ali and
President of Suriname Chandrika Prasad Santokhi
were also present at the Global Investors Summit.
¾ In his address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said
that our strong macroeconomic fundamentals are
capable of leading the world. Today, India is the fastest
growing economy in the world. In the next four-five
years, India will be the third largest economy in the
world. This is not India’s decade on the global stage,
but India’s century.
¾ Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that this
summit being held in Indore is truly global. While
the Presidents of Suriname and Guyana have come
to this summit, the Finance Minister of Mauritius,
the Commerce Minister of Bangladesh, the Mineral
Minister of Zimbabwe have also come to the summit.
Representatives from 33 countries of the world and
431 delegates from a total of 84 countries have come.
¾ On the second day of the Global Investors Summit,
discussions will be held with investors in 9 sessions
to increase industrial investment in the state. There
will be discussions on boosting exports from Madhya
Pradesh. In other sessions, financial assistance for
development of social infrastructure, access Madhya

discussed with investors. In another session, India,
Israel, USA and UAE (12 U2 ) group shared investments
will also be discussed.
¾ On the second day of the summit, investors will
discuss Madhya Pradesh’s contribution to India’s $ 5
trillion economy, prospects in the field of aerospace
and defense, Madhya Pradesh’s contribution in
accelerating manufacturing in India and possibility of
better investment in Madhya Pradesh on education
and skill development.
¾ In the special session, the favorable environment for
start-ups in Madhya Pradesh will be discussed. In all these
sessions, subject experts will give information about
the investment friendly features of Madhya Pradesh.
¾ Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal,
while joining the summit virtually from the US, said that
Madhya Pradesh produces one-fourth of the country’s
organic cotton. Madhya Pradesh contributes 20% to
renewable energy sector. Now work is also going on
in the Green Hydrogen Mission. Madhya Pradesh is
also making a mark in the field of wildlife tourism.
¾ Partha Mittal of JSW Group said that our group plans
to invest Rs 4500 crore in the state. Under this, a
cement plant is being set up in Panna and a paint unit
at Pithampur at a cost of Rs 1500 crore.
¾ Nikhil R. Meswani of Reliance Group said that by
December 2023, 5G facility will be made available
in all tehsils of the state. Affordable digital facilities
will benefit students, farmers and the common man.
Reliance Group has so far invested Rs 22,500 crore in
the state and plans to invest Rs 40,000 crore.
¾ Pranav Adani of Adani Group said that Adain group is
going to invest Rs 60,000 crore in Madhya Pradesh,
which will create a large number of employment
opportunities. Food parks are being set up by the
group in Dhar, Guna, Damoh, Ujjain and Indore.

concluded the three-day 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

away Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards to 27 Overseas
Indians for their outstanding work in their respective fields.

¾ President of Guyana Dr. Mohammad Irfan Ali and

were specially present at the event.
¾ President Murmu said the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman
is the country’s highest honour given to overseas
Indians. It showcases his work and contribution to
India and other countries.

have also planted saplings in Namo Global Park here.

State to Make Aadhaar Based
Payment in Treasuries
Why In News?
On January 13, 2023, Madhya Pradesh Finance
Minister Jagdish Deora launched a new system to facilitate
payment to beneficiaries through Aadhaar-based
payments in treasury, making the state one of the leading
states in the country that provide this facility.
Key points
¾ Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Jagdish
Deora said that new dimensions are being added
for some time to make the Integrated Financial
Management Information System implemented
in the treasury more efficient. Digital accounting
dispatches, e-sign in passing bills, all payment options
have been provided in e-invoice to pay tax/revenue to
the common citizen. This has not only made financial
dealing easier but has also succeeded in bringing
financial discipline.
¾ Now, in order to make the financial system more simple,
strong and beneficiary oriented, the new system of
Aadhaar-based payment will be implemented in all
the treasury of the state from January 16, 2023. With
the new system, double benefit can be identified and
prevented. At the same time, unsuccessful payments
will also decrease.
¾ The Finance Minister said that under the Integrated
Financial Management Information System (IFMIS)
of the state, all the beneficiaries are being made
e-payment directly in their bank account since the
year 2010. In view of the need of the hour and the
changes in financial management, it has now become
possible to make Aadhaar based payments to the
beneficiaries along with the bank account, making
the e-payment system effective.
¾ The Finance Minister said that now bank account
based e-payment along with Aadhaar based payment
is being started directly in the entire treasury from
January 16, 2023 through the e-Kuber system of the
Reserve Bank of India.
¾ With the implementation of e-Kuber, all e-payments of
the state will be received rapidly in the bank account
of the concerned beneficiary. This system will be
available 24 hours on all working days.

¾ The Finance Minister said that with the implementation
of the new system, the matching of data will be
easier. In the past, the information of receipts and
payments by banks was physically given to the treasury,
which was sent to the Reserve Bank of India and
the Accountant General, in which there were many
problems of data variation. With the introduction of
e-Kuber, the Reserve Bank of India will be directly
treated and the problem of matching the data of
financial transactions will end.
¾ Moving forward in this direction, the contribution of
the state in the Digital India program will be further
increased. IFMIS Next Gen is being developed in place
of the present Integrated Financial Management
Information System (IFMIS) with the objective of
implementing faceless, paperless, contactless and
cashless financial transactions and developing a user
friendly system incorporating modern technological
innovations.
Brochure Launches
of 8th Indian International
Science Festival
Why In News?
On January 13, 2023, Minister of Science and
Technology and Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises of
Madhya Pradesh Om Prakash Sakhalecha launched the
brochure of the Science Festival under the curtain raiser
program of the 8th India International Science Festival
(IISF) at Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and
Technology Mapcast .
Key points
¾ The 8th Science Festival will be held in Bhopal from
January 21 to 24 for the first time in Madhya Pradesh.
So far, seven events of this festival have been held in
different cities of the country.
¾ A special exhibition based on the progress made in the
field of science will be set up at the India International
Science Festival. The exhibition, spread over two
lakh square feet, will showcase the achievements of
over 300 Indian science institutions, including ISRO,
Department of Atomic Energy and Department of
Space, Ministry of Earth Sciences, DRDO.

¾ Along with this, Run for Science will be organized on
January 19, 2023. With the aim of creating awareness
among people about science, this run will start from
T.T. Nagar Stadium and end at MANIT campus.
¾ Arvind Ranade, Executive Director, Indian National
Science Academy (INSA) said that the India International
Science Festival started from IIT Delhi in the year
2015 . Students Science Village program will also
be held during this festival. The Science Village will
include 1500 children from different remote areas
of Madhya Pradesh, who will be able to see science
and its wonders up close. There will also be activities
like Scientific Science Literature Festival, Startup Hub.
¾ Sanjay Mishra, senior scientist in the Department of
Biotechnology, said that this festival is not a seminar
or conference. It is an event that will be attended by
distinguished scientists from the country, from school
students to retired officers.
¾ It is noteworthy that this is an event of wide publicity
of science. The festival will have 15 activities such as
Artisan Technology, Village Vocal for Local, New Age
Technology Show, Mega Science and Technology
Exhibition, International Science Film Festival, Science
Through Games and Toys, Startup Conclave. More
than 10 thousand participants will participate in this.

REC to Provide Assistance of
1000 Crores to Rewa Ultra
Mega Solar Limited
Why In News?
On January 14, 2023, an agreement was signed to
provide financial assistance of Rs 1000 crore by Rural
Electrification Corporation (REC) for renewable energy
project to Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited.
Key points
¾ REC has also committed an amount of Rs 5000 crore
to MP Discom to further strengthen distribution
reforms. An MoU has been signed for this at the
Global Investors Summit 2023.
¾ Apart from this, REC has also signed a financial
assistance agreement of Rs 15,086 crore with Madhya
Pradesh Power Management Company Limited.

¾ As per the agreement with RUMSL, REC has earmarked
assistance of Rs 1000 crore for renewable energy projects
covering infrastructure including development of
renewable energy parks and projects, power distribution.
¾ Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited has been nominated
as a solar park developer by the Ministry of New and
Renewable Energy for developing large scale solar
parks in Madhya Pradesh.
¾ This project has been considered as an important step
to achieve the renewable energy goals of the state.
The state aims to produce 20 percent of its electricity
needed through renewable sources by FY 2024, 30
percent by FY27 and 50 percent by FY20.
¾ In addition, REC has also prepared a financing scheme
for select state-owned power distribution companies
in partnership with the World Bank. This will provide
a total amount of financial assistance of USD 1 billion
as a part of the REC-World Bank program.

Science Festival-2022
Why In News?
On January 16, 2023, Dr. Anil Kothari, Director
General, Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and
Technology (MAPCOST), told that the 18th International
Science Festival will be held in Bhopal from January 21
to 24 for the purpose of creating awareness and
dissemination of science among school children and
public. The festival will be organized in 2022.
Key points
¾ The 8 th Science Festival was organized by the
Department of Biotechnology, Science and Technology,
Ministry of Earth Sciences, Council of Scientific and
Industrial Research (CSIR), Department of Space,
Department of Atomic Energy, Vigyan Bharati (VIBHA)
and Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology
(MANIT) is being done under the joint aegis.
¾ Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology
(MPCOST), Bhopal is the nodal agency for this science
festival.
¾ More than 8,000 delegates from across the country
will participate in this science festival from January
21 to 24. The main theme of this festival being held
in the Amrit kaal of independence is ‘Country moving
towards Amrit kaal with science, technology and
innovation’.

¾ Dr. Anil Kothari, Director General, MAPCOST, said that
under this science festival itself, the Run for Science
Marathon is being coordinated by the Madhya Pradesh
Council of Science and Technology from January 19. The
three-and-a-half kilometer marathon will start from TT
Nagar Stadium in Bhopal and end at the MANIT Campus.
¾ He informed that the Science Marathon is being
organized for the first time in Bhopal under the 8th
India International Science Festival. More than 2
thousand school and college students and common
people will participate in the run.

Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Indore from New Delhi.

¾ Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that with
the inauguration of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani
Hospital in Indore, the people of the state will get
better health facilities. It is a high quality hospital.
People of the state will no longer need to go to Delhi

Union Ministry of Transport
has Approved Four Important
Development Projects for
Madhya Pradesh under the
Setu Bandhan Scheme
Why In News?
On January 17, 2023, Madhya Pradesh Public Works
Minister Gopal Bhargava informed that the Union Ministry

of Road Transport and Highways has approved four
important development projects for Madhya Pradesh in
the Setu Bandhan Scheme. These development projects
are for Bhopal, Seoni and Gwalior districts.
Key points
¾ Public Works Minister Gopal Bhargava said that the
ministry has sanctioned an amount of Rs 32 crore
44 lakhs for the construction of Chhola Railway
Over Bridge Kali Parade to Ayodhya Bypass Bhopal.
Similarly, Rs 126 crore 40 lakhs have been sanctioned
for Railway Over Bridge National Highway No-7 Seoni
City, District Seoni.
¾ This amount has been sanctioned under the Central
Road and Infrastructure Fund Act 2000 Setu Bandhan
Scheme.
¾ Similarly, the Ministry has also approved the proposal
of Railway Under Bridge Near Dabra Railway Station
from Harishankar Puram to Mahalgaon Railway Track
Gwalior and Mohana Railway Overbridge Gwalior
under Bridge Bandhan Scheme.
¾ Minister Gopal Bhargava said that this will give more
impetus to the development of the districts. With
the increasing road infrastructure, Madhya Pradesh
will be able to contribute a lot to the economy of
the country.

Poojan of the New Building
and New Galleries of the
Archaeological Museum,
Ujjain.
Why In News?
On January 18, 2023, Governor Mangubhai Patel laid
the foundation stone of new galleries including a new
building in the Archaeological Museum complex at
Vikram Kirti Mandir Ujjain. Governor and Higher Education
Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav also inspected the Archaeological
Museum.
Key points
¾ The Vikram Kirti Mandir Museum at Ujjain Vikram
University has some collections of rich history of the
city, with artifacts of almost all periods, rulers.

¾ The museum has a vast collection of 650 artifacts
from the prehistoric era and 30,000 rare manuscripts.
The present building of the museum is dilapidated.
The renovation and upgradation of the museum will
be done by Ujjain Smart City. For this work order
has been issued to M/s Doshi Consultant Pvt. Ltd,
Indore.
¾ The proposed works will include construction of
new building of 1200 sqm, upgradation/renovation
of existing structure of 4500 sqm and setting up of
new gallery for displaying artefacts, air conditioning
and modern storage/display, lighting and information
about artefacts and manuscripts through audio/digital
mode and development of public amenities etc.
¾ The new galleries, including the construction of
archaeological museum building, will be constructed
at a cost of Rs 14 crore. In the coming days, the
government will be able to decorate the museum at
a cost of Rs 14 crore. In these, work will be done to
give the museum a state-of-the-art look and preserve
the preserved statues and relics.
¾ Archaeological heritage kept in the Archaeological
Museum, five lakh years old world famous elephant
head, rhino horn, hip teeth of a hippopotamus, wild
buffalo jaw and 200 other fossils and other remains
will be displayed in various galleries.
The stone tools made by early man collected by Dr.

Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar in the archaeological
excavation of Bhim Betka will also be displayed in
this museum.
¾ In this museum, 10 logs, which are 2600 years old,
found from the banks of Shipra River located in
Gadkalika region as the remains of the wooden wall
and port built during the time of King Chand Pradyot
of Ujjain will also be displayed. Along with this, four
thousand years old archaeological material obtained
with the excavation of Kayatha, Mahidpur, Azad Nagar,
Runija, Sodang, Takravada in the rural areas of Ujjain
will be displayed.
¾ Apart from this, it has been planned to enrich the
museum by displaying 472 rare stone statues present
in the museum, which are from Mauryan period to
Maratha period, in newly built galleries. In the first
phase, building construction will be done at a cost
of Rs 7.5 crore and interior work will be done at a
cost of Rs 6.5 crore.

Singrauli will get the Gift
of Medical College Building
Why In News?
On January 19, 2023, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan informed that as announced earlier
by him, the foundation stone of government medical
college building will be laid in Singrauli on January 22.
Key points
¾ Singrauli district is the highest revenue generating
district in the state due to thermal power plants and
coal mining projects.
¾ Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the
demand for a medical college in Singrauli was being
made for a long time. The medical college building
is being constructed in village Naugarh. For this, 25
acres of land has been allotted. Rs 248.27 crore has
been sanctioned for construction of building complex.
¾ It is being constructed by M/s DV Projects Limited,
which will be completed by December 19, 2024.
¾ Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that with the construction
of the medical college, the arrangements for treatment
here will be better. Not only Singrauli, the dream of
students of the entire Vindhya region to become
doctors will also be fulfilled. Students of tribal
dominated areas will be able to study medicine by
staying near their homes.
¾ Senior doctors and experienced professors will be
appointed to provide education to the students in
the medical college. Singrauli district will benefit from
their medical knowledge and efficiency.

Two New 220 KV Circuits
at Bairagarh Substation
Why In News?
On January 19, 2023, NP Gupta, Superintending
Engineer of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission
Company, said that Madhya Pradesh Transco Company
has succeeded in energizing two new circuits (feeder and
line) of 220 KV.

¾ Two new circuits (feeder and line) of 220 KV, built by
Madhya Pradesh Transco Company at 220 KV sub-
station Bairagarh Bhopal at a cost of Rs 10 crore 85
lakhs, were energized, due to which Bairagarh where
400 KV sub-station is directly connected to Ashta At
the same time, an additional 220 KV circuit from 400
KV substation Bhopal has also become available at
Bairagarh.
¾ Company’s Superintending Engineer NP Gupta said
that the company was successful in making this
arrangement because some time back 400 KV. A power
transformer of 315 MVA capacity was energized at
sub-station Ashta, due to which Madhya Pradesh
Power Transmission Company has been able to get
additional power from the center grid and Bhopal
has benefited from it.
¾ He informed that first 220 KV sub-station in Bairagarh.

Gandisagar Floating Festival

the five-day Gandhi Sagar Floating Festival will be held
in Mandsaur district of the state from February 1.

that this is a unique and first-of-its-kind floating festival,
which will have land, air and water-based adventure
activities, giving a unique glamping and adventure

Third cave spotted in
Gupt Godavari in Chitrakoot
Why in News?
On January 22, 2023, Sdm P.S. Tripathi of Majhgawan
in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, said that the third cave has
been found near Gupt Godavari in the Madhya Pradesh
region of Dharmanagari Chitrakoot, the tapobhoomi of
Lord Ram. Soon the archaeological department team will
be called and information will be made.

about 25 feet and the width is one and a half meters.

13th National Voters Day

Officer Anupam Rajan said that the 13th National Voters’

Sanchi will be

23, 2023, Sanchi, located in Raisen district of the state,
is being developed as the first solar city of the state to
meet its power needs and make it self-sufficient in power
supply.

¾ Sanchi is a small town located in Raisen district, which
is famous for stupas and Buddhist pilgrimage sites.
¾ Through the camp in Sanchi, consumers have been
called to install solar rooftops in their premises and
are being motivated to promote green energy by

¾ Significantly, 7.3 MW of electricity will be produced
through solar energy in Sanchi. This will ensure self-
reliance in the power supply as well as the supply of
electricity for the next five years through solar energy.

e-rickshaws for public transport, charging stations,

On January 23, 2023, Union Minister for Road
Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari inaugurated a 550
km road project costing Rs 6800 crore in Orchha, Madhya
Pradesh. Inaugurated 18 National Highway projects with
a total length of Rs.
Key points
¾ On this occasion, Union Road Transport and Highways
Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the 665-meter-long
bridge at Betwa has been constructed at a cost of Rs
25 crore. The connectivity of Orchha, Jhansi, Tikamgarh
will improve with the construction of 2-lane paved
shoulder bridge and footpath.
¾ The construction of Powai, Orchha, Harpalpur, Kaithi
Padhariya Kala, Patna Tamauli, Jasso, Nagaur and Sagar
Link Road bypasses will reduce the traffic pressure
in the city. The distance from Bhopal to Kanpur via
Sagar Greenfield Link route is 21 km from Mohri to
Madhya Pradesh/Uttar Pradesh via Samai Ghat and
Chowk. will decrease.
¾ Gadkari said that by widening the border to 4 lanes,
there will be a huge reduction in the travel time.
The problem of traffic jam will be solved by the

construction of flyovers in Sagar city, Chhatarpur city
and Garhakota. Connectivity will be easy to reach
tourist places of Madhya Pradesh- Orchha, Khajuraho,

¾ He said that the construction of Bhopal-Kanpur
Economic Corridor will make transportation of cement
and mineral components easier and reduce logistics
cost. With the construction of this corridor, connectivity
from Bhopal to Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi
will be good. The construction of a 2-lane road with
paved shoulders from Tikamgarh to Orchha will make
traffic safer.
¾ In this program, Gadkari covered 105 from Bamitha
to Satna at a cost of Rs 2000 km crore. He also
announced the construction of a 4-lane greenfield
road with length. With the construction of this route,
tourism of Tikamgarh, Panna, Chhatarpur, Khajuraho,
Bandhavgarh National Park will get a boost.
Important Decisions Taken
in the Meeting of the
Council of Ministers Chaired
by the Chief Minister
Why In News?
In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan on January 24, 2023, several other
important decisions were taken including reimbursement
of additional 2 percent interest on bank loans up to Rs.
3 lakhs to women self-help groups.
Key points
¾ Madhya Pradesh operated in the state. In order to
provide additional livelihood opportunities to women
self-help groups formed under Deendayal Antyodaya
Yojana, State Rural Livelihood Mission and Urban
Livelihood Mission, this reimbursement was given to
the same women self-help groups in all districts in the
State Rural Livelihood Mission and Urban Livelihood

central government.
¾ The cabinet approved Rs 800 crore for two years
(2022-23 and 2023-24) under the ‘Chief Minister’s

the state. It was decided to give and make necessary
budget provision.
¾ 85 PG in Medical College Sagar by the Council of
Ministers. Administrative approval of Rs 101 crore
46 lakhs has been given for seat increase. With the
increase of PG seats in various departments of the
Medical College, Sagar, additional number of subject-
specialist doctors will be available to the state every
year.
¾ With the aim of providing high quality education
to the tribal students, the cabinet approved the
guidelines for running special residential schools of
the department, girls’ education complex and model
residential schools with private participation.
¾ The cabinet decided to replace ‘contractual school
teacher’ with ‘primary teacher/laboratory teacher’.
NABARD will Provide
a Loan of Rs 2 lakh 58
thousand 598 Crores to
Madhya Pradesh in 2023-24
Why In News?
On January 24, 2023, the Madhya Pradesh regional
office of the National Rural and Agricultural Development
Bank-NABARD in Bhopal told in the ‘State Loan Seminar
2023-24’ that NABARD has received priority for the year
2023-24 to speed up the development of Madhya Pradesh.
Will provide a loan of Rs 2 lakh 58 thousand 598 crores
in the region. This is about 6.43 percent more than the
previous year.

¾ The credit potential of Rs 2 lakh 58 thousand 598
crore includes Rs 1 lakh 80 thousand 160 crores for
agriculture, Rs 65 thousand 832 crore for MSME and
Rs 12 thousand 606 crore for other priority sectors.
¾ Madhya Pradesh Finance Minister Jagdish Deora
said in the seminar that this important cooperation
of NABARD will have a positive impact on farmers,
workers associated with enterprises and the entire
economy of the state. Madhya Pradesh’s contribution
of $550 billion will help in achieving the target of $5
trillion economy of the country.

¾ In the seminar, the finance minister also released the
State Focus Paper 2023-24 and the booklet ‘Agriculture
Debt Major Issues in Madhya Pradesh for $550 Billion
Economy’. Commendable performing banks of the
state were felicitated in the programme.
¾ It is worth mentioning that keeping in view the priorities
of the Government of India, the share of agriculture,
MSME and all priority sectors in the credit assessment
has been estimated at 70 percent, 25 percent and 5
percent respectively.
¾ With the cooperation of NABARD, there will be a
positive change in areas like water resources, agriculture
mechanization, barren land development, animal
husbandry, fish farming, warehouse construction,
food processing, renewable energy.
Four Personalities
of the State Selected
for Padma Shri Honor
Why In News?
On January 25, 2023, the President announced the
country’s highest civilian awards ‘Padma Awards’ for the
year 2023 on the eve of Republic Day. Of these, four
personalities from Rajasthan have been selected for the
Padma Shri award.
Key points
¾ For the year 2023, the President has approved the
conferment of 106 Padma Awards including three dual
cases (in a dual case the award is counted as one).
¾ The list includes 6 Padma Vibhushan, 9 Padma Bhushan
and 91 Padma Shri awardees. The list of awardees
includes 19 women and 2 persons from the category of
Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and 7 posthumous awardees.
¾ The four personalities from Rajasthan selected for the
Padma award are Moolchand Lodha, Laxman Singh
and Ahmed Hussain and Mohammad Hussain (jointly).
¾ Social worker Moolchand Lodha of Dungarpur and
Laxman Singh of Lapodiya village of Jaipur have been
selected for distinguished service in the field of social
work, while Hussain Bandhu Ustad Ahmed Hussain
and Ustad Mohammad Hussain have been jointly
selected for Padma Shri award for distinguished
service in the field of art.

¾ The Hussain brothers of Jaipur, known for their ghazal
and qawwali singing, have also been awarded the
Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in the year 2000.
¾ Significantly, Padma awards are among the highest
civilian awards of the country. The Padma awards are
given in three categories - Padma Vibhushan, Padma
Bhushan and Padma Shri. The awards are announced
on Republic Day every year.
¾ The awards, social work public affairs science and
engineering are given in the fields of various disciplines
trade and industry, medicine, literature and education,
sports, civil service etc/activities such as art.
¾ ‘Padma Vibhushan’ is awarded for exceptional
and distinguished service, ‘Padma Bhushan’ for
distinguished service of high order and ‘Padma Shri’

New Award Scheme
for Madhya Pradesh and
Indian Indigenous Cows
Why In News?
On January 27, 2022, Animal Husbandry Minister of
Madhya Pradesh, Premsingh Patel informed that the ‘Prize
Scheme for the state’s original bovine breed and Indian
advanced breed milch cows’ is being implemented under
the Mukhyamantri Pashupalan Vikas Yojana.
Key points
¾ The Animal Husbandry Minister informed that in
the scheme started with the aim of promoting the
indigenous breeds of the country and the state,
competitions of indigenous and Indian advanced
breeds of cows will be held from February 1 to 15.
¾ In this competition, 201 district-level prizes will be
given, which will be for 45 native cows of Madhya
Pradesh and 156 Indian advanced breed cows. Apart
from this, 6 state level awards will also be given.
¾ The competition of milch cows of state’s original
bovine and Indian advanced breed will be held
separately in the districts. State’s native cattle breed

competition will be held in 15 districts - Agar-Malwa,
Shajapur, Rajgarh, Ujjain, Indore, Khandwa, Khargone,
Burhanpur, Barwani, Dhar, Damoh, Panna, Tikamgarh,
Chhatarpur and Niwari.
¾ Malvi breed cows’ competition will be held in District
Agar-Malwa, Shajapur, Rajgarh, Ujjain and Indore and
Nimari breed competition will be held in Khandwa,
Khargone Burhanpur, , Barwani, Dhar and Kenkatha
breed districts of Damoh, Panna, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur
and Niwari districts.
¾ The Animal Husbandry Minister said that the daily milk
production of Malvi, Niwari and Kenkatha cows of the
state’s native cattle breed should be 4 liters or more
and that of the Indian cow should be 6 liters or more.
¾ Indian Advanced Breed Cow Competition will be held
in all 52 districts. The cattle herders of cows giving
more milk will be rewarded.
¾ For district level first, second and third prize in both
the competitions: Rs 51 thousand, 21 thousand and
11 thousand will be there. Similar state level awards
will also be: 2 lakh, 1 lakh and 50 thousand rupees.
¾ Apart from the three prizes, certificates will be given to
the rest of the competing cows. The list of all awards
winning cattle breeders along with the breed of cows
and milk production details will be available on the
departmental website.
Ladli Behna Yojana
Why In News?
On January 28, 2023, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the launch of ‘Laadli
Bahna Yojana’ in Narmadapuram (Hoshangabad) district
on Narmada Jayanti and Narmadapuram’s Gaurav Diwas
like ‘Laadli Lakshmi Yojana’ in the state.
Key points
¾ In this scheme, poor sisters of all classes will get one
thousand rupees per month and if they are getting
the benefit of other schemes, then they will continue
to get it as before.
¾ On this scheme in 5 An estimated 60 thousand crore
rupees will be spent years.
¾ The Chief Minister said that Ladli Behna Yojana will
further improve the lives of the sisters of the state and
the women of the state will be financially empowered.

Minister announced to make Narmadapuram Lok and
Narmada Corridor on the lines of Shri Mahakal Lok,
gifting many developments works to Narmadapuram
district. Along with this, a modern bus stand will also
be built here.
¾ On the occasion of Narmada Jayanti and Gaurav
Diwas, the Chief Minister performed Bhoomi Pujan,
and inaugurated development works virtually from Jal

an international project. Four girls from India have

Vishwakarma of Mohandra village of Panna district of

Agreement Signed Between
Madhya Pradesh Power
Management Company
and Megha Engineering
Why In News?
On 30 January 2023, a tie-up was signed between
Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company and M/s
Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited to build
17 ultra-high-pressure substations in Madhya Pradesh.
T.S.A. (Transmission Service Agreement) was signed.
Key points
¾ Earlier, RECPDCL, the Bid Process Co-ordinator
appointed by the Government of Madhya Pradesh,
after completing the tender process, transferred the
SPA (Share Purchase Agreement) to the lowest bidder

Hyderabad.
¾ Chief Engineer Sanjay Kulshrestha said that keeping
minimum in TBCB (Tariff Based Competitive Bidding),
M/s Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited
has won this contract for construction of 17 ultra
high-tension substations for Madhya Pradesh Power
Transmission Company.

of Rajgarh district, Sodalpur of Harda district, Pathari
of Raisen district, and Bari, Jawar Jod of Sehore
district, Semrahat of Ashoknagar district GIS of
132/33 KV substation of 132 KV in Pithampur, Dhar
district. substations, 220 KV substation at Khargone,
132/33 KV substations at Bhatpachlana in Ujjain
district, Pipalgaon in Khargone district, Dhodar in
Ratlam district, Chobradhir in Dewas district, Ambaja
in Alirajpur district.
¾ After construction, these substations will be operated
by M/s Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited
for 35 years.
