The ALF Relief Fund Birka Development project in the

Gerbo District of Bali-Galol Kebele, Somalia, aims to
address the pressing issue of poor access to water. By
constructing an underground water catchment
compound known as a Birka, the project seeks to
provide a sustainable solution to capture rainwater for
the community. This innovative approach will alleviate
the burden on women and children who currently travel
long distances to fetch water, exposing them to health
risks and limiting their educational opportunities. The
Birka project aims to enhance community health,
