I DO (30 minutes)

Scripture to focus on:

Psalms 104:14
14 He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate— bringing forth food
from the earth.
God makes everything and he tells us that some things are made for food for us and for the
animals. Let’s work together and plant something that would be good for us to eat.

Hey guys, I have a plant here for us to look at. (Show them a bean plant). Where do you guys
think this plant came from? (Take a few answers.)
We’re going to go over how seeds are planted. Here are the things we will need.
 A container to plant your seeds (We used a tray similar to this one we found at
our local gardening center. Be sure whatever you decide to use has holes for
draining.)
 Seed-starter soil
 Seeds (Here’s a good assortment of vegetable seeds .)
 Popsicle sticks
 Water
(Here I will show them the plant life cycle worksheet in my lesson plan.)

The proper steps class seeds, soil, water, sunlight, sprout, and then finally the plant.
Now let’s watch this video.

(During the video I will pause and talk to the class about why some of the seeds did not grow.
This will include whether the weather was too cold or hot, or maybe there was not enough water
etc.)
