Reflection paper

Angela Merkel
Angela Merkel served as the Chancellor of Germany from 2005 to 2021. One of her strongest qualities
as a leader is her ability to remain calm and level-headed in difficult situations, which has been
particularly valuable during the European debt crisis and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. She is also
known for her ability to build strong relationships with other world leaders and her dedication to
strengthening the European Union. However, one of her weaknesses has been her tendency to avoid
making bold decisions, particularly when it comes to controversial issues like immigration. One of her
indispensable qualities as a leader is her strong sense of duty and responsibility, which has led her to
prioritize the well-being of her country and the wider European community above her own personal
interests.

Jacinda Ardern
Jacinda Ardern has been the Prime Minister of New Zealand since 2017. One of her strongest qualities
as a leader is her ability to connect with people on a personal level, which has helped her build a strong
following and win elections by a wide margin. She is also known for her decisive action in response to
the 2019 Christ church mosque shootings, during which she implemented strict gun control laws and
showed her support for the Muslim community. However, one of her weaknesses has been her handling
of the housing crisis in New Zealand, which has led to skyrocketing house prices and a shortage of
affordable homes. One of her indispensable qualities as a leader is her empathy and compassion, which
has led her to prioritize the needs and well-being of the people she serves above political interests.
