Hey students! We’re going to have some fun learning about coordinating conjunctions. We’ll start by using
the acronym FANBOYS to remember the coordinating conjunctions. We’ll prepare a FANBOYS FAN.
After preparing this, we’ll play a ‘Hot Potato’ game.

Rules for the game

❖ Gather a group of students in a circle.

❖ Use a small object like a ball or even a real potato as hot potato.
❖ Set a timer to start the game.
❖ Players pass the hot potato around the circle from one person to the next as quickly as they can.
❖ When the timer goes off, the person holding the hot potato will be shown two flashcards and asked to
make a sentence using conjunctions.

Material required for making FANBOYS FAN - A4 sheet and sketch pens

This activity will help students to learn coordinating conjunctions in a fun and engaging way.
