This week we are learning:


Circle Time Review
This week in circle time we will review days of the week for half of the lesson and it will be reviewed by choral drilling and singing the song Monday, Tuesday. In the second part of the lesson we will review prepositions using the cardboard box and the students as props, to demonstrate in, on, under and by.

In the classroom
Activity Time

Vocabulary: Pencil, pen, crayon, coloured pencil, marker, eraser, ruler, glue, scissors, book, whiteboard, bin, chair, table, desk, door, lights, clock, window Sentence structure(s): Question - What is this? Response It is a pencil/book etc Question Is this a pencil? Response yes/ No It is a book Song(s): wind the bobbin up Activities: Parcel, parcel This game is also a musical game that involves a wrapped parcel with many layers and in different layers there are school supplies. When the music plays the parcel is passed around and when the music stops the person holding the parcel unravels the parcel one layer and this continues until the end. Musical chairs - The game starts with the whole class and the same amount of chairs. Every time the music stops, chairs are taken away and as a result fewer players. Fly swat The students swat the vocabulary with fly swatters Game(s): Pass the card - Get the students into a circle. Pass a flashcard around. Each student has to say the word then pass it around. To make it more lively several cards can circulate simultaneously. Touch - Place your flashcards around the room. Shout out touch the (flashcard vocabulary) and students run to the correct card, touch it and shout it out.

Phonics
Review
Last week we reintroduced the letters s, a, n, t, i, p but the students were introduce the non- jolly phonics flash cards along with the jolly phonics flash cards. This week we will continue to do the same and slowly begin to use the non Jolly phonics flash cards as the main flash cards . We will play the games including Get it, say it On either side of the classroom put 3 or more flashcards. Have all student sat on the floor in the middle of the room, back to back. When you say a word they jump up and race to the right card.

New (letters/sounds/vocabulary)
This week the students will be reintroduced to the letters c/k,e, h, r, m, d they will be reviewed every lesson with the jolly phonics CD to memorize before we introduce the non Jolly phonics flashcards. The students are now being slowly emerged into phonics without the visuals of the jolly phonics flashcards over the next several weeks. We will do this playing games including fly swat and matching pairs.

Writing Practice
The students are not currently doing any writing practice.

Sight Words
The students are not currently doing sight words.

Hello Parents! The students did well to settle into the full week and learnt a lot this week.
