Anuban Weekly Outline

This week we are learning:


Circle Time Review This week we are going to review our numbers. We are going to practise to write the numbers itself, and also to give a name to the numbers. We are going to do some very basic mathematics to use the words of the numbers. Vocabulary includes: We are going to learn the words for the numbers from 1 to 30. We are going to practise the names for all the colours. Vocabulary includes: green, pink, blue, red, orange, white, brown, black, yellow . Songs to practice include: "Little green frog" and "Down in the Jungle" In phonics we are going to review letters a, b, c, d, e and f that we looked at last week. We will practice pronunciation and the students will name some words that begins with each of these letters. (bee, axe, cat, cactus, bear, can, apple, balloon, crayon, egg, doll, envelope, flower, door, football, elephant, flag, egg).

Activity Time

Phonics
This week in phonics we will continue to work through the MEP3 phonics booklet and we will focus on the letters g, h, i, j, k, l and words that begin with these letters. The students will come out and draw a picture of each new word and we will work out which letter it begins with and then rehearse the word and 1st letter. We will play splat with the new vocab words. I will write them out on the board and 2 teams will compete to be the 1st to hit the word that is called out. Students will get a bonus point if they can spell the word using the phonic alphabet. We will also recap the 5 vowels a, i, o, u, e. Here we will also name some words that begin with these letters and introduce the idea of a and an, learning that we use a in front of a noun that begins with a consonant and an in front of a noun that begins with a vowel.

Vocabulary: ant, bat, frog, monkey, butterfly, snake, gorilla, lizard, mouse, caterpillar, spider, tiger Sentence structure(s): Question: What is this? Response: It is a ... Question: Is a/an ... big or small? Response: A/ an is ... is big/ small. Question: Can a/ an ... walk/ fly? Response: A/an ... can fly/ walk. Songs: This week we are singing our fun song. "Jungle boogie woogie" available on You Tube at: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-zxcGKIMcOs We are also going to learn the nursery rhyme " One, two, buckle my shoe". Activities: As one period of activity time got cancelled the previous week, I am going to do "Sally Snake" with the students this week. We are going to colour her in with bright colours and then cut her out to make her coil and turn. We are going to colour in a hidden picture matching the colours to numbers. Let's find out what picture was hidden. Games: We are going to play "fly swat", where the students have to hit the flashcard with the word that the teacher said. The students will be divided into two teams and then compete to see who can it hit it first. We are also going to play a memory game. I am going to put the flashcards out in order and we are going to say the words. Then turn over one card and repeat the order, turn over a card and repeat the process until all flashcards are turned over.

New (letters/sounds/vocabulary)
This week we will learn a new set of vocabulary. Each new word will begin with either g, h, i, j, k, l and will be used to practice the phonic pronunciation. The new words are grapes, igloo, hand, in, gum, inch, hat, glue, heart, kite, light, jello, kangaroo, lizard, jam, lion, leaf and king. We will aim to help the students to understand the meaning of each word and practice spelling them aloud using the phonic alphabet.

Writing Practice This week we are going to start a new handwriting booklet where the students practice writing each letter correctly by 1st tracing it and then writing it out by themselves. Letter shape, position, size will be focused on.

Sightwords This week we are going to introduce basic sightwords: look, come, here, sit, down, stand, listen, write. We will work on the pronunciation and I will use these words in examples throughout the lessons so the students understand the meaning.
