Phonics
Review
This week in the review lesson we will review all the letters of the Jolly Phonics alphabet using the Jolly Phonics flashcards. Before emerging the students into the non Jolly Phonics flashcards, the students will be reviewing with these with both flashcards and playing the matching game to ensure they are confident enough to move on in the phonics program.
Vocabulary: We will review the different weeks of vocabulary in the activity lessons this week. The weeks below are the weeks the students were taught these specific vocabularies. Week 1 - Head, hair, face, eyes, ears, mouth, nose, teeth, chin, neck, arms, shoulders, elbows, fingers, hands, tummy, bum, hips, legs, knee, feet, toes Week 5 - Animal, lion, tiger, bear, shark, whale, penguin, koala bear, panda, elephant, giraffe, kangaroo, wolf, cow, horse, sheep, goat, hen, chicken, pig, duck, goose, rabbit, cat, dog, fish, bird, farm, run, walk, swim, jump, hop, crawl, big, small Sentence structure(s): Question What is this? Response It is a hand/elephant. Question What colour is the e.g. (shark)? Response It is (blue). Question Is the (shark) (big) or (small)? Response It is (shark) is (small). Song(s): -Lion hunt - Head shoulders knees and toes - Monkey see and monkey do Game(s): - I've Got It - Have students sit in a circle. Give each student a flashcard or item. Ask "What is it?" and elicit the vocabulary. Call out the vocabulary and have the students stand up and say the flash card. Repeat until all the students are standing, then continue until all the students are sitting. Go at a fast pace so the students are sitting and standing rapidly.
New (letters/sounds/vocabulary)
The students are now fully confident with the Jolly Phonics flashcards so the students will now move onto the not Jolly phonics flash cards. We will again start with the first six letters in Jolly Phonics sounds s,a, t, i, p, n. We will reintroduce these sounds using the Jolly Phonics CD and introducing a new game.
