Dear Ma’am,
We are currently conducting a study on "Prospecting the sustainable potential: Algae-derived
biofertilizers for enhanced crop-Growth of brassica rapa subsp. chinensis and soil health in
La Trinidad, Benguet" with our main objective which is to examine the efficacy and feasibility
of an algae-derived biofertilizer cultivated from the mixed medium of kitchen water waste, used
laundry water waste, and washed rice water waste as means of enhancing the crop growth of
Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis (pechay) and soil health in the agricultural area of La Trinidad,
Benguet. And our specific objectives with the study are:
1. To assess the growth parameters of Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis such as its leaf area
(length), green contrast of color (with the use of LCC), the number of leaves grown, plant
height, dry weight and yield due to the effect of the algae-derived fertilizer in comparison
to control treatments and other fertilizers both synthetic and organic.. And to;
2. To analyze the influence of the algae-derived biofertilizer on soil health using the indicators
of soil organic matter content (OM), soil texture, soil moisture content nutrient levels
(NPK), soil acidity (pH), microbial activity, and water retention capacity in soil fields
treated with the algae-derived biofertilizers compared to untreated fields.
