Part- I: Choose the best answer

Consider the following electric furnace temperature control,

The temperature in the furnace is measured by a thermometer and the measurement is converted to digital value by A/D
converter which is fed to a controller through an interface. This digital temperature is compared with the programmed input
temperature, and if there is any discrepancy (error), the controller sends out a signal to the heater, through an interface,
amplifier, and relay, to bring the furnace temperature to a desired value. Answer the questions 1-5

1. What is the manipulated parameter?

A. Desired temperature C. Current through the relay
B. Environmental temperature D. Measured temperature
2. What could be disturbance?
A. Desired temperature C. Current through the relay
B. Environmental temperature D. Measured temperature
3. What is the plant?
A. Relay B. Amplifier C. The furnace D. A/D converter
4. What type of control is the above system?
A. It is open loop control system
B. It is positive feedback closed loop control system
C. It is negative feedback closed loop control system
D. Impossible to know
