Pixorize Neuroanatomy – Meissner Corpuscle (Tactile Corpuscle)

1. Mouse = Meissner Corpuscle

2. Hairless Mouse = Found in Hairless/Glabrous Skin (specifically papillary dermis of glabrous skin)
3. Wafer = Layered Disk Structure
4. Lightly Nudging Wafer = Senses Light Touch
5. Mouse sensing position of trap = Involved in Position Sense
6. Quick Moving Trap = Adapts Quickly (require constantly changing/dynamic stimuli to conduct
impulses. With slower/no-moving stimuli, will initially sense them, but will stop conducting
nervous impulses after it adapts)

Pixorize Neuroanatomy – Merkel Disk

1. Marker = Merkel Disk

2. Gingerly holding marker at finger-tips = Merkel Disks located at finger-tips (specifically in the
stratum basale at the bottom of the epidermis and in the papillary dermis)
3. Marker releasing ink (represented as just the ink on the tip) = Pressing down on Merkel Disks
causes the release of Vesicles containing neuropeptides to nearby receptors, causing action
potential formation
4. Marker pressing down (represented as the pressure creases/lines emanating from the marker) =
senses pressure
5. Shape Outlines on Canvas = Detects Edges and Shapes of Objects
6. Grid Background on Canvas = Contributes to Position Sense
7. Non-Moving (sitting) Model = Adapts Slowly (Sense non-moving/static stimuli. Slow adaptation
of Merkel disks means that they will sense stimulus even after it stops moving. If the stimuli are
present, Merkel Disk will continue to fire action potentials)

Pixorize Neuroanatomy – Pacinian Corpuscle

1. PacGuy Game on Screen = Pacinian Corpuscle

2. Hand Giving Deep Massage = Located in Deep Skin & Tissue (specifically in the dermis and
hypodermis, joints, and ligaments)
3. Onion Skin on Screen = Onion-Like Rings or Lamellae
4. Vibration Waves = Detects Vibration
5. Creases on Shirt = Senses Deep Touch/Pressure
6. Quick Moving Hands on Keyboard = Adapts Quickly (require constantly changing/dynamic
stimuli to conduct impulses. With slower/no-moving stimuli, will initially sense them, but will
stop conducting nervous impulses after it adapts)
7. Circular Sugar Dots on Screen = Pacinian Corpuscles may be impaired with Chronic Diabetes
Pixorize Neuroanatomy – Ruffini Endings

1. Roof = Ruffini Endings

2. Wire Endings being Held Onto = Encapsulated Nerve Endings (found specifically in the reticular
dermis)
3. Left Foot Pressing Down on the Wall = Senses Pressure
4. Right Foot Slipping off Wall = Senses Slippage of Objects
5. Non-Moving Knot on the Chimney Pipe = Adapts Slowly (Sense non-moving/static stimuli. Slow
adaptation of Ruffini Endings means that they will sense stimulus even after it stops moving. If
the stimuli are present, Ruffini Endings will continue to fire action potentials)
6. Angled Chimney Pipe = Senses Joint Angle Changes
