In fine motor, children will be moving their sensory bags from hand to hand moving the gel
around in fine motor development, children will be reaching for their sensory bags with one
hand.

In fine motor, children will be moving their sensory bags from hand to hand moving the gel
around.

Experience description: (10 points)

Children were playing inside and while I went to the back to grab my sensory bags. I went to the
kids where they were all playing and saw if it would catch their eye at all. A few children seemed
very intrigued with it and others seemed to not pay attention to it. As the ones who were

interested, we caregivers try to get them to push around the gel and see if they would be
intrigued with it.

Materials (4 points)

 Ziplock bag
 Blue hair Gel
 Teal and Blue glitter
 Sea animals
 Ocean duct tape

Plan for carrying out experience (what caregiver will do) (4 points):

I will bring out the sensory bag and try to catch infant’s interest. I will lay it on the floor and
demonstrate what can be done, and what they can find inside it. I will then talk to them about
what animals they just found in the ocean sensory bag.

Do you feel the children were engaged? Why or why not? (4 points)

Only 2 out of the 4 were engaged. One was holding on to the sensory bag for dear life and didn’t
want to let go of it at all. The others did find it very engaging to see and touch. So, the two did
find it very fun to play with, smell and carry it around their hand while playing with other things.

What would you do next time to increase or improve the learning? (2 points)

I think maybe doing baby oil with blue food coloring or doing a different theme with the
children. I would try to show and identify what each animal is and show them they look.
