Thesis Title (01): Performance Evaluation of Geosynthetic Soil Reinforcement Materials in Reducing
Soil Slope Ratio and Improving the Stability of High-Fill Areas along Ataye - Mehal
Meda Road Project
Statement of the Problem/ Background of the Research:
The Ataye-Mehal Meda Road Project involves the construction of a road through a challenging terrain characterized
by high-fill areas and steep slopes. These conditions pose significant stability challenges, as the natural soil alone
may not provide adequate strength and stability. To address this problem, geosynthetic soil reinforcement materials
are being considered as a potential solution. However, there is a need to comprehensively evaluate the performance
of these materials in reducing soil slope ratios and improving the stability of high-fill areas along the road project.

Research Objectives:
The primary objectives of this thesis are as follows: (a) To assess the effectiveness of geosynthetic soil reinforcement
materials in reducing soil slope ratios along the Ataye - Mehal Meda Road Project. (b) To evaluate the impact of
geosynthetic soil reinforcement on the stability of high-fill areas along the road alignment. (c) To compare the
performance of different types of geosynthetic soil reinforcement materials in terms of slope stabilization and high-
fill area improvement. (d) To analyze the long-term durability and sustainability of the geosynthetic soil
reinforcement materials under varying environmental conditions. (e) To provide practical recommendations for the
selection and implementation of geosynthetic soil reinforcement materials in similar road projects.

Significance of the Research:

The successful implementation of the Ataye-Mehal Meda Road Project is crucial for enhancing transportation
connectivity and facilitating economic development in the region. By evaluating the performance of geosynthetic
soil reinforcement materials, this thesis aims to contribute valuable insights into the effectiveness and feasibility of
using such materials for slope stabilization and high-fill area improvement. The findings will not only benefit the
specific road project but also offer guidance for future infrastructure development in similar challenging terrains.

Research Methodology:
To achieve the stated objectives, the following methodology will be employed: (a) Literature Review: Conduct a
comprehensive review of existing literature to gather information on geosynthetic soil reinforcement materials, their
applications, and their performance in slope stabilization and high-fill area improvement projects. (b) Data
Collection & Analysis: Collect relevant data, including soil properties, slope characteristics, and high-fill area
conditions; and geosynthetic soil reinforcement materials mechanical properties, such as strength, stiffness, and
deformation characteristics. (c) Geotechnical Analysis: Utilize geotechnical analysis techniques, such as stability
analysis, to evaluate the performance of geosynthetic soil reinforcement materials in reducing slope ratios and
enhancing stability. (d) Comparative Study: Compare the performance of different types of geosynthetic soil
reinforcement materials through case studies and data analysis. (e) Recommendations: Based on the findings and
analysis, provide practical recommendations for the selection, design, and implementation of geosynthetic soil
reinforcement materials for slope stabilization and high-fill area improvement in similar road projects.
