Unit: 2: Past and Present Unit Essential Question: What makes you, you?

Lesson Objective:
After reading and discussing a model of close reading, students will be
able to identify details in the text that help reveal the theme. (RL.8.1,
RL.8.2)

Content of Lesson:
Briefly describe lesson sequence
Students will begin by writing Week 8 Vocab in their workbooks as a Do
Now. They will then review and go back to their allusion and theme
foldable and give 2-3 more examples for allusion as well as highlight it or
add any information they need. After reviewing they will complete the
two study sync assignments for Slam, Dunk, and Hook. We will silently
read Abuela and then complete the questions on the board. After
reviewing the Plot from Monkey’s Paw, they will complete the Plot
Structure for Abuela with their shoulder partners and we will read
Frankenstein after that.
