ADAPTIVE LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 9

For Learners with Difficulty in Self-Care

PLOP:
Learners with difficulty in self-care have trouble with motor skills. This skill helps us
remember the steps and proper procedures in doing something. Deficit in this skill can make
it hard for learners to do basic routines that can hinder their daily actions.

LC: Identify the figures of speech and other literary techniques and devices in the text.
I. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the session, students should be able to:

a. determine accurately the different figures of speech


b. understand its uses; and
c. use figures of speech in creating a text while considering the steps in
constructing such

II. SUBJECT MATTER

TOPIC: FIGURES OF SPEECH

CONCEPT: Figures of speech is also known as figurative language,


it creates figures (pictures) in the mind of the reader or
listener. These pictures help convey the meaning faster
and more vividly than words alone. We use figures if
speech in ‘figurative language’ to add color or interest
and to awaken the imagination.

MATERIALS: Pictures, Charts, TV screen

ADAPTATIONS:
In the presentation of lesson, set of video clips about
the subject matter are to be presented. The teacher will
also discuss the steps in creating an effective essay
while considering the use of the figures of speech.
Charts and pictures are to be distributed to the whole
class. In the activity phase pen and paper activity is to
be conducted.
III. PROCEDURE

A. CLASSROOM ROUTINE

Prayer
Reading of classroom policies

B. REVIEW
The teacher will call someone from the class who wears the same
color of shirt like him to recapitulate the previous lesson.
C. MOTIVATION
The teacher will roll a dice. After rolling, the revealed number will tell
which student will answer the question. The number will be based on
the class attendance of the teacher. The picked student will have to
answer the questions of the teacher that goes, “What figures of
speech do you usually use in writing?” From his answer, the teacher
will again ask the student, “What are your steps in constructing an
essay?”
D. LESSON PROPER
The teacher will first introduce the subject matter through video clips.
After presenting, he will discuss a follow-up topic related to the lesson,
namely the steps in creating an effective essay. Charts and pictures
that highlight the appropriate procedures in making such will be given
to them. After the lecture they will be grouped into groups for the
activity. The activity requires them to construct first an essay using
figures of speech and create a scene wherein a student is properly
doing the steps in making his creative essay about a certain topic. The
teacher will collect the essay from each group and their performance
will be graded according to the teacher’s criteria.
E. GENERALIZATION
Using strips of paper with sentences, 3 students from the class will
arrange the sentences accordingly to create an organized though. The
thought reveals the summary of the lesson.
F. APPLICATION
The teacher will divide the class into groups. Each group is tasked to
role play the steps in constructing an essay with the use of figures of
speech.
G. REFLECTION
The teacher will call random students to share something they have
realized and learned from the discussion and activity.
IV. ASSESSMENT
DIRECTIONS: Look for a certain topic that you like. Write an essay about it
while considering the different figures of speech. On the latter part, discuss
the steps that you did in order to construct such essay. They are required to
finish this after 20 minutes.

V. ASSIGNMENT
Research the steps in creating a news essay.
