Students will use PowerPoint to create an eBook of the alphabet. Students will tell their
alphabet by using pictures that have meaning to them. Example the Letter “Z” could stand for
their dog’s name “Zoey”. This allows students to not only learn their alphabet but to
associate the letter of the alphabet to things that have meaning to them.

using pictures that have meaning to them. This will help them remember the letter, associate
letters with different objects, and allows me to get to know their interests and life outside of

school. Then, I will present the class with my eBook showing them what I expect to see and
how to create a PowerPoint, upload pictures, and add their narration. Students will have a
week to complete this as I expect this to take a little while for them to brainstorm and learn
how to use the Basic Productivity Tool (BPT), they may also want to go home and take
pictures of things they like. Students will be assessed by presenting their eBook to me and
the class graded by their letters matching the picture they added. Students are learning at
higher levels of learning by creating their own eBook from a blank canvas. They will Learn:
Typing, alphabet, how to use the tools in PowerPoint, how to add their voice, how to add
pictures. This lesson will be concluded once all eBooks are turned in and students have
shown a complete understanding of the alphabet.
Managing engagement:
The tool used in this lesson will shift students to become active learners. They are becoming
active learns by this activity being student-lead. The students are creating their own book
from a blank canvas. Students must first turn in a rough draft of their slides before beginning
their PowerPoint eBook. This way I will be able to correct any errors or misunderstandings
before beginning using the tool.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

This tool supports my students by actively keeping them engaged by using the alphabet
letters to an image that has meaning to them. This tool has the ability to support all of my
students learning. While using the PowerPoint tool students have the ability to change the
language, increase the letter fonts, and change the colors. As students present to the class
their eBook, they will engage others by the pictures they have chosen to represent their
letters. This activity not only supports the student’s comprehension of the alphabet
(connecting letters with words and objects), but it also allows the class and I to get to know
each student at a deeper level.

Reflecting on enhanced learning:

Students demonstrate their learning by successfully completing their eBook connecting
letters to words that have meaning to them. This tool allows students to create a
presentation of PowerPoints and allows students to add their voice to each slide for a
storytelling effect. Technology helps students develop a meaningful understanding of their
learning goals by making learning engaging and collaborative.
