Final reflection essay

What I learned in academic research was that everything has a way of doing

something. There are rules to be followed for your paper to sound good. As we kept reading the

book and doing the group quizzes together we all learned something out of it. Most of us have

not done the essay that we did this semester. We learned to communicate and ask for help when

needed. We also ask questions during lectures to see if we would understand it when required.

There were also times when we would look at the examples from the book and reflect on it. For

example my first annotated bibliography. At first, I struggled trying to figure out how to do one

in the first place. I looked at the images, but they were different from each other. I decided to

stick to the one that was shown in the book. The research analysis was a little more

straightforward than the annotated bibliography. The research analysis mainly focused on putting

it together. What made it easier was that we used the same articles, but each time, we had to

present them in a different way. The research analysis is a summarily and putting it all together

into one essay. The position essay was on facts and what we learned. When I did my articles, I

noticed that the articles that I had picked were not facts since i focused on stories. I had to read a

few more on it to get facts on it so I was able to write my position essay. We learned that the

proper borrowing practice in this course is to give credit to those who worked hard for it. There

is punishment for those who do not provide cried to those who wrote the articles. We learned

how to cite and the different ways to mention them. What helped us was on the book, and it also

gave us examples. They would also explain it how to do it and the meaning of it. We were able to

go back and reflect on it in case we ever needed it. We could also ask our peers on how to do it

because some of them knew how to do it, but not all of us did not only could we ask them, but

we can also ask our professor or the resources we have at TAMIU.

What helps me to understand the academic research is the group quiz. When gathering

with my peers, we had to communicate with each other and help each other understand what the

question was mentioning. In almost every class session we met, we had a group quiz. This forces

us to read the book a day before so we have an idea of what the questions are asking. The

professor would also provide us with page numbers for the questions. The page numbers helped

us a lot because sometimes we would get confused about what the question was asking of us.

What also helps is we answer as a class, and we get to hear what other people put and explain the

reason why they put it. We get to hear different perspectives. When we would write essays we

would do pree reviews on each other reports and give each other feedback, and that would help.

We can go back and reflect on them to help us improve on our research paper. It helps us get an

idea of what we need to improve on. All this allows us to work through the research part to have

a better understanding of what we need to do to write our paper. I went through way more than

usual to find one that was good for my essay. I used the book to help my guide in certain sections

and trying to figure out if I was doing the right or wrong thing. From the comments that I

received from my peers, I need to add more information to my paragraph, and that I need to add

my word cited page and in the book, and what the professor had said it had to be in alphabetical

order. From the comments that I got and that I will use in my future essay is that I can elaborate a

bit more on my information on the articles that I have picked so they can have a better

understanding of what I am trying to say and for them to see my point. I grasped more details in

the articles and, added to my paper, and put them together so it can be easier to understand. My

identity as a writer changed in me with this essay because I can take the comments and use them

to help me improve in my writing. For example, they say that I need to connect my articles to the

essay.

I learned in this assignment that get a head start in the reading before choosing a topic.

Something that I did use in this assignment that I have not used was so many articles all at once.

I went through way more than usual to find one that was good for my essay. I used the book to

help my guide in certain sections and trying to figure out if I was doing the right or wrong thing.

I asked my classmates, and they all seemed to be on the same page as me. I can use this in my

other classes by learning how to research and little shortcuts so I can have a better understanding

of my research and what I am reading. I also learned that there are different expectations for

different things, and not every article is the same. Some take longer to understand and longer to

read. I also learned that to get the highlights of the report and download the articles so I can write

notes on it so I can have a better understanding of it. I should take notes on it so I can have a

better experience of it. Something that I learned that I would not use in other classes is nothing.

This would be helpful in my other classes so I can be able to do my research faster and have a

better understanding. This would help me become a faster reader and see what is best for me that

I can do to write. My analysis of visual elements of text can help improve my writing in general

to know what I am trying to write in what I am missing, or what I am good at. They can leave

comments, and I can go by that to help me improve in my writing. This can help me in the

future as a writer so people can have a better understanding of what I am trying to express. This

will benefit me and help me become a stronger writer in the future so I can be able to see what i

am good at or still need improvement on. in the research analysis was more straightforward than

the annotated bibliography. Having the source already been searched for it made it easier for me

to type my essay. I learned in this assignment to have everything organized. Since I used the

same sources as the last essay, writing some notes or a little summary of the article can help.

Since I have not read it in a while, I can go back to the messages and refresh my memory, and it

can help to write your essay by using your notes.I also used the resources from school to help me

and guide me in my article. Being able to analyze helps me improve and see my mistakes so I

can see my weaknesses and fix them to see what I need to improve on. This can help me in the

future by making my essay stronger and for me to see what I am still missing and things that I

can add for future reference. For the position, essay was mostly on facts and my previous articles

were on stories and not mainly on facts and i needed to add more information on it since i

decided to play it safe. It was hard at first since work and this essay iterfier a lot. There was not

enough time for me to be able to do this essay, but at the end of the day I think i was able to do a

decent job.

From the comment that I received from the readers in my essay was that I needed to

connect more to my writing. They want more information on how does that helps with the topic

of what I am writing. My strength is that I pick good articles and give proper information on

them. My writing weakness is not providing details on how it connects, and I leave out words

because I know what I am trying to say. I have seen them evolve so far in my college career.

From the comments that I receive on my work, the comments can help me in my following essay

to see what I need to improve and what I am good at. This can help me because I can work on it

and fix it in as many possible ways as I can. The aspect of this essay was trying to find the right

topic that I could write on and see how am I going to do my layout. Another challenging part

would be trying to find the right resource that I want to use for my essay. And also tried to figure

out how to write the essay and how the layout should be and in the Annotated Bibliography, this

essay was writing a summary of the article that I was reading and then explaining what I

understood what the article was trying to say. My identity as a writer changed in me with this

essay because I can take the comments and use them to help me improve in my writing. What I

learned in this essay is if you need help, there is always going to be someone to help you. I can

use this in my other classes by learning how to research and little shortcuts so I can have a better

understanding of my research and what I am reading. I need to work on putting it all together

into one paragraph. I have seen my essay evolve in my college career. I saw that I have gotten

better at writing essays, and I have also noticed that the information that I have been told if I do

not understand, I need to ask when I need help, whether it be the professor or a student there. of

doing this report is that I had little time to do it. I did not check when it was due, so I needed to

write information and gather all my thoughts on my essay.

Over all this class was more challenging to because I was trying to figure out how to do

the essay in a short amount of time, and I would only see this professor twice a day. The book

was important because I was able to use it so it can guide me. My identity as a writer is that I am

not a strong one, but once I explain it to someone, I find it more easier for me to explain it that

way. This class helped me with my time management skills, and I learned a lot from it. I turned

in my assignments on the time that it is supposed to be due. This helps me prepare for my future

classes so i can do my resources and be able to work on my assignments in a short amount of

time. Not only did it help with my time management, but it also helped with me talking to other

people. This helps because I do not really like to talk to people, but for this class encourages us

to speak to one another, whether it be for the group quizzes or just asking for help.
