 Ostrich is the biggest and heaviest of all birds. An ostrich has a long stride. One
stride of an ostrich can cover up to 4.9 metres! This is about the length of a
Proton Bezza. Although it is classified as a bird, but it cannot fly, instead it runs.
Ostrich is also very fast. It can run up to a speed of 64 kilometres per hour. They
are warm-blooded. They live in the African savannah. The only place where it
can be found in the wild. Since it is a bird, it has wings, however, its wings are
short. The ostrich uses its wings for balance, holding them outstretch when it
runs. An ostrich has long eye lashes that protect it from sandstorm. It also has
strong legs. One kick from the ostrich can kill a lion.

When an ostrich senses danger, it will often lie low to hide, stretching its long
neck in the ground. Ostriches are omnivores. This means that they will eat both
plants and meat. They usually eat seeds and grain, but will also eat insects and
small animals if they can find them. It reproduces by laying eggs. The eggs of an
ostrich weighs as much as 1.5 kg and 15 cm long.
