Lesson Title Adding & Subtracting Fractions

Grade Level & 5th Grade Math: Adding and Subtracting fractions with like and unlike

Lesson Students will be able to… add and subtract fractions with unlike

fractions.

Introduction Estimated Time: 1 hour start at 10:00 am

Students will rotate between three stations to absorb new knowledge about adding and
subtracting fractions as well as test their skills. The group with the lowest previous test scores
will start with the teacher directed activity. The group with the average previous test scores
will start with the collaborative work period the group with the highest previous test scores
will start with independent digital content. Each group will spend 20 minutes on the
particular station and then rotate so that Group One will then move on to the collaborative

the teacher directed small group. The last round of these stations will be each group going to
the only station they have not gone to yet.
