PROGRAM FIELD OFFICERS (PFOs) – MUHORONI PEACE RESILIENCE

Reporting to: Program Manager – Peace, Justice, and Governance
Work percentage: 100%
Expected start date: Immediately
Type of contract: 3 years, renewable

Background
The Free Pentecostal Fellowship in Kenya (FPFK) is an evangelical church registered in
1977. It operates in 32 regions. FPFK runs various development projects in different
thematic areas of focus including peace and conflict management, gender and women
empowerment, environment, and community resilience, children’s rights advocacy,
health and education, and humanitarian assistance.

Purpose of the Position

The Program Field Officers (PFOs) will be responsible for implementing all peace and
conflict management activities along the borderline of Kisumu, Kericho, and Nandi
Counties
Duties and Responsibilities
The Two PFOs drawn from Luo and Kalenjin communities will be based in Thessalia
Mission Center, near Muhoroni and they will work together to fulfil the following key
duties and responsibilities:
1. Develop weekly work plans in line with scheduled project activities.
2. Conduct community mobilization and sensitization, capacity building such as
training of committees and peace and livelihood groups.
3. Facilitate beneficiary identification and registration for the project.
4. Participates in data collection, e.g., administering questionnaires, and collecting
statistics for project monitoring purposes.
5. Facilitate collaboration among stakeholders, e.g., state officers, security agencies,
and traditional leaders towards building sustainable peace along the border.
6. Coordinates community participation and stakeholder relations at the community
and County levels and also organizes and facilitates community-level meetings.
7. Monitor and report on a daily basis the security situation in the area as related to
the project activities
8. Monitor the beneficiaries’ progress as related to the implemented project activities
9. Foster positive relationships with the concerned partners and the beneficiaries in
the area of jurisdiction.
10. Prepare a weekly project report in English to the immediate supervisor on the
status of the activities, including identified risks and challenges;
11. Represent the project in government and other stakeholder/partnership meetings
within the localities
12. Ensure project participants are timely reimbursed for their traveling costs.
13. Participate in the development of peace and conflict management training
materials for project participants.
14. Ensure that all project assets are used solely for the project purpose and that they
are well maintained
15. Perform other project tasks, as directed.

Minimum Qualifications
a) A minimum Diploma in Peacebuilding, Conflict Management, Peace and Security
Studies, Diplomacy, and other related academic fields
b) Previous experience in a similar role of NOT less than two years
c) Excellent context knowledge of the Kisumu-Kericho-Nandi border conflicts
d) Project management experience will be a definite advantage
e) Ability to travel and work in the field for protracted periods of time
f) Proven experience of previous work with Civil Society Organizations/Faith-based
organizations

f) High level of computer literacy with excellent Microsoft Office skills and web-based
systems

h) Ability to work on own initiative without close supervision
i) Ability to deal with confidential information and sensitive situations in a tactful and
professional manner
j) Fluency in spoken and written Kuria, Maasai, or Gusii languages in addition to
English and Swahili
