Dear Doctor,
There is a lot you have to know to successfully take advantage of Facebook paid advertising. First
among these is how to create ads that get response.

My team and I have run several million dollars in Facebook ads for our chiropractic and
medical/chiropractic (MD/DC) clients. We have helped many of them build huge practices with a
consistent, predictable flow of new patients from Facebook advertising.

We have written and tested thousands of ads resulting in tens of thousands of new patient
appointment requests. That’s more testing than any one office could do in a lifetime and is why
this list of ads is so valuable.

Included are the ads that are performing best for us right now. These proven ads are your starting
point with any paid Facebook campaign. Of course, there are no guarantees, but these ads have
the highest odds of success and can save you a lot of money from being wasted on weak ads.

A warning about images


Most of the best ads feature images taken from the stock image library provided by Facebook to
advertisers. Use these freely with your Facebook ads. However, if you cannot find the same or
similar image there for an ad, you are advised to buy the image rights at any a stock image site
like stock.adobe.com before using it. Ad rights costs about $1 per image which is a small price to
pay to avoid the massive hassle of being sued by a copyright holder.

Why are some of the ads worded funny?


One reason it is so challenging to create successful Facebook ads for healthcare services is that
Facebook has strict guidelines about what your ads can and can’t say.

Unfortunately the rules are strict AND vague at the same time. Also they are not consistently
enforced. This can be endlessly frustrating.
One challenge is that, per their rules, you cannot be overly invasive and imply the reader has a
specific health condition or that having such a “disability” is wrong. You also cannot write an ad
that invokes too much pain or fear of loss.

On the other side, you cannot advocate a perfect “body image” or imply that poor health is a
personal problem. Geez!! This extreme worry about offending anyone is a challenge particularly
in healthcare which is all about addressing personal issues!

There are even penalties for using simple things like question marks (?) and in many cases the
word “you” will get an ad disapproved (too direct). Therefore, it is often necessary to water down
the ad copy significantly and do some grammar gymnastics.

Furthermore, because most of the ads are shown on mobile devices (and not desktop as they
are presented below) you need to “frontload” sentences. When only the first 4 or 5 words of a
headline will be shown, you need to be sure to get the important words in there early on! ALWAYS
CHECK YOUR ADS ON MOBILE!

So, when you see the ads in this guide, know that each of these were crafted to get around the
semantic and space restrictions from Facebook without losing their impact with the public. I’ve
made a lucrative career out of doing that.

As a note, the ad examples below are for a fictitious office and some minor points are omitted to
protect our clients.

Of course, there is a lot more to building a successful Facebook program


than just good ads and images. The ads above will get you started and on
the right path if you take the following into account:

Targeting is crucial. Even the most compelling ad will fail if


 sent to the wrong audience or an audience that is not targeted
closely enough. On Facebook, the error is usually failing to
target tightly enough. Targeting that is too broad usually fails.


Your market may be different. We use the above ads as a
starting point. We then customize each based on the research
information about the target market. Ethnicity, income, literacy
level, and activity level are key points to adjust for in a campaign.

 Monitor results and make adjustments on a daily basis.


Facebook ads are not “fire and forget.” You have to keep an eye
on them daily, and if they begin to falter, then swap out ads,
make changes, etc.


The offer (free exam, X-rays, $39 adjustment, etc.) can make
a huge impact on how an ad performs. Test several different
offers to find your market’s “sweet spot.” We have a saying
around the office: “Good ads cannot save a bad offer.”


Facebook is an always evolving landscape. Even the ads above
are different compared to what I would have written a year ago.
I’ve tried to pick the most stable producers, but there will be
“drift” over time.
