Firstly, UEFA got people to watch the game by using famous players to catch the eye of
casual and hardcore fans. Although this technique is commonly used, it is amplified in this
poster. There are eight widely recognized players in this one image, so a casual fan who sees this
will, without a doubt, recognize at least one player that will compel them to watch the game.
(specify) Having a relaxed fan notice one of the players will encourage them to watch and see
how they perform in the game. Furthermore,(Good transition) the use of all these top-tier players

also catches the eye of die-hard soccer fans by amplifying the significance of the match. These
hardcore fans will recognize the more obscure players for their talent and realize that this
matchup between them will be one of the year's greatest games. Benzema is one of the most
widely known players in all of soccer, as he holds a plethora of achievements to his name. Not
only is he recognized by causal fans, but might even get noted by non-soccer fans due to his
presence in the French national team. Using his image compels people who do not know about
the Champions League final to research more about it. The use of Benzema's likeness also
reminds soccer followers who were already going to view the game how exciting the game will
be. So, not only does using player likeness grab people attention, but it also makes more people
Secondly, UEFA convinced people(be more specific) to view the match by using
interesting player emotions(change to expression) to build excitement and enthusiasm for the
competition. Two distinct emotions are being shown on the players' faces. Some players are
highly charged, while others are very serious. The contrast of the player's emotions displays the
two different sides of what a player's mindset is at that time: focus and excitement. The focus can
be seen in the four inner players in the poster. All four of them stare into the distance with
straight faces, clearly showing they are ready for the battle. A person is immediately drawn into
these four inner players since they are the biggest. When people look at this, they are reminded
of the stakes and how much effort it took for the teams to get there. The excitement, however, is
clearly displayed on the four outer players in the poster. The players' screams resonate with the
viewer and make them think about all the crazy moments in soccer. These memories make
viewers more excited than ever to watch the game in order to witness all the crazy moments.
These two emotions start to catch onto the viewer when looking at the poster and combine to

make the viewer eager to watch this significant game. Not only does it make people want to
watch the game but it also directly affects how a viewer thinks about the game with all these new
emotions.
Lastly, the use of contrasting jersey colors helps UEFA advertise the match by forcing the
viewer to pick a side. The choice to make the colors of the jersey distinctive was made so that the
two teams would be seen as bigger competitors. The viewer is forced to pick between the two
teams, red or white. The dark red(good use of order) shirt and matching dark red pants symbolize
the team’s strength and courage. They are being displayed as the heavy favorites in the match-up.
The other team, however, uses white and blue shirts to symbolize hope and pride. They are laid
out to be the underdogs in this game. The personality between the teams can be used as a reason
why a person should root for that team. Furthermore, this contrast being displayed by the jersey
colors encourages people to pick a side in the game. Picking a side makes the viewer more
emotionally invested in the game and drives them to watch it. The characteristics formed by the
teams’ jerseys colors also encourage the viewer to research more about the topic and the teams.
In conclusion, the matchup in the poster is fueled by advertisements to get people more
excited to watch the game. Using the player's likeness, player emotion, and jersey colors in the
advertisement gets UEFA to encourage people to watch the Champions League final. These
advertisements have been proved successful as they convince millions to watch the Champions
League final yearly. So, the next time one of these posters comes up, consider watching the
