This document, is a statistical work carried out during the season 2017-2018 with the 12
teams that participated in the two UAE Official Competitions – UAE First Division League
(UAE FDL) and UAE President Cup (UAE PC).

The data collected refer to the five games/weeks of the UAE President Cup (Pre-
Qualifying for First Division Clubs) and the 22 games/weeks of the UAE First Division
League, totaling 162 official matches.

Every day football demands more from coaches, players and referees, they are "forced"
to have a perfect performance during the football game and the error cannot exist ...
but this will always be something impossible, because the line of perfection is
unattainable, takes away from football what makes us love so much, the adrenaline of
not knowing what is going to happen…

NUMBER OF REFEREES AND ASSISTANT REFEREES

During the 162 official matches of the two competitions, 30 referees and 53 assistant
referees were selected - first and second assistant referee only.

REFEREES’ APPOINTMENTS

There was a great imbalance in the appointments of the referees and assistant referees
for the matches of the two official competitions (UAE FDL and UAE PC).

With such a large number of referees and assistant referees, the teams could have had
a better rotation in home games and matches in the opponent's field, even in the so-
called "most important matches", the rotation of the referees should have been better.

In this table is presented the number of referees and assistant referees that each team
had during the 27 official matches.

It is possible to visualize that there was a great difference in the balance of the referee’s
appointments for each week and for each game of each team. Observing this table, it
can be analyzed that there were teams with greater rotation of the referees and
assistant referees.

The 30 referees who whistled the 162 games of UAE FDL and UAE PC. The number of
games each one has made and the individual performance in the sampling of yellow and
red cards.

How is possible in two competitions in which only six matches were disputed per week
there are referees with more appointments than others, what should be the criterion of
choice…

It is important to analyze case by case, because we will come to some conclusions about
the games in which they had present and the results obtained by the teams. And it is
safer for analysis to be performed by someone who is within the arbitration process, for
each case is a case.

The game framework only features the matches of the UAE

First Division League. For each game of the league are listed
the four appointed referees.

This is the list of 53 Assistant Referees

and the number of games they have
participated in the two competitions
(UAE FDL and UAE PC) in 162 games.

As well as the referees, there was a great

imbalance in the appointments and the
selection of the assistants for the number
of games made.
