ABOUT U S
Chorus, a theatre group, founded by Sriram
Jagajeevanram is the product of the innate passion
and exuberance for theatre as an art. Ever since
its incipience on June 22nd 2018, We have done
plays that have a contemporary take on epics and
mythologies like that of Ramayana, Mahabharata
and classical pieces such as Kalki novels,
Silapadigaaram, etc.
Apart from being trained in epic plays, we have
delved into street plays, PSA’s and theatrical training
of various age groups and other demographics
of the society. As a part of conducting theatrical
workshops, we have tied up with Cheshire Homes,
Thiruvanmiyur for training children, who are
physically and mentally challenged, in theatre and
activities oriented with it.
Traversing the artistic route to perfection,
Chorus has its goal to bring glory to Theatre.

OU R ME NTO RS
Thotta tharani
A National Award winner, and a distinguished
name in the film fraternity. His name has been
synonymous with art direction throughout India.
He has been actively involved in theatre with us for
the past 9 years as our Set Designer.

J Jayakumar
His theatre career took off in 1984 with koothu-
p-pattarai and reached its zenith with Sanskriti
Award. He turned amateurs into professionals with
his knowledge about theatre which led to the
formation of “Chorus”.

Kumaravel
His tryst with Kalki began in 1999 when his
stage adaptation of Kalki’s Ponniyin Selvan was
performed by Magic Lantern of great acclaim. His
scripts and guidance had helped us call ourselves a
theatre group.

Paul Jacob
This die-hard bass guitarist is known for his jingles
in the world of advertising and his music albums.
His electrifying music never failed to bring great
moments in our plays. He has been travelling with
us for more than 6 years showing us all types of
music.

CREW
Director
SRIRAM JEEVAN – An aspiring young director
with several plays to his credit. His theatre career
took off in early 2010 with Koothadi as an assistant
director to J Jayakumar. He then went to direct
his own short plays with Chettinad Players. He
has been actively involved in all departments of
theatre.

Costume Designer
JOY ANTHONY – A classical dancer from
Kalakshetra and also a well-established Fashion
Designer who has created costumes for Classical
And contemporary theatre-dance production
including Cleveland Cultural Allience, Madras
Players, Natya Dance Theatre-U.S.A. He has also
worked as a Costume designer for numerous films.

Light Designer
SANKAR NARAYANAN – An actor who has
assisted Mr. J Jayakumar in Direction and has
been skillfully trained by Mr. Lawrence in Lighting
for the past 5 years. He was the lighting executive
for an international play which was held in OMAN
called Sivagamiyin Sabadham in which he has won
a lot of appreciations.

Music Director
ANISH MOHAN – A city based musician who is
a part of several music bands in Chennai. He has
composed music for about 20 shorts films and
notably a short film called INSOMNIA which was
nominated for best original score in SINGAPORE
INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL.
