OBSERVATION:

Causes of deforestation are agricultural expansion, wood extraction and infrastructure expansion such
as road building and urbanization. Trees are cut down for timber, waiting to be transported and sold.
Deforestation is the purposeful clearing of forested land. Deforestation can include clearing the land for
farming or livestock, or using the timber for fuel, construction or manufacturing.

GATHERING OF DATA:

DEFORESTATION AROUND THE WORLD -

[Deforestation is the large-scale removal of trees from forests for the facilitation of human activities. It
can result in the loss of biodiversity, damage to natural habitats, disturbances in the water cycle, and soil
erosion. -

According to the FAO, Nigeria has the world's highest deforestation rate of primary forests. It has lost
more than half of its primary forest in the last five years.

RATE OF DEFORESTATION Globally we deforest around ten million hectares of forest every year. That's
an area the size of Portugal every year. Around half of this deforestation is offset by regrowing forests,
so overall we lose around five million hectares each year. According to data from Brazil's national space
research institute, forest clearing in the Amazon through the first two months of 2022 has amounted to
430 square kilometers (166 square miles), more than twice the average over the past ten years.
Deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon during the first half of 22 claimed roughly 1,500 square miles of
the Amazon rainforest, an area five times the size of New York City and the greatest loss since at least
2016 which broke all records. The area destroyed in the first half of 2022 is 80% larger than the same
period in 2018, the year before Bolsonaro took office, according to an analysis from the Amazon
Environmental Research Institute, or IPAM, a Brazilian nonprofit.

TOP 5 COUNTRIES WITH DEFORESTATION RANK & COUNTRY NAME Forest Area Change 1990-2020 (mi²)

1. Brazil -356,287 -15.67

2. Indonesia -101,977 -22.28

3. DR Congo -94,495 -16.25

4. Angola -48,865 -15.97

5. Tazmania -44,962 -20.29

IDENTIFIED COMMUNITY BASED PROBLEM:

What Is a deforestation explain?

Deforestation is the purposeful clearing of forested land. Throughout history and into
modern times, forests have been razed to make space for agriculture and animal
grazing, and to obtain wood for fuel, manufacturing, and construction. Deforestation has
greatly altered landscapes around the world
FORMULATING HYPOTHESIS:

Cutting down of trees fundamentally means shortage of oxygen and it really makes hard to breathe.
Trees plays a major role because it helps us breathe more oxygen. Not just trees are vanishing but also
wildlife is getting affected. They don’t have an area to stay and they just pass away.

MAKING INFERENCES:

Deforestation impacts the environment through loss of biodiversity and disruption of

ecosystem processes and the economy by affecting ecosystem services and because
of inefficient squandering of resources.

CONCLUSION:

In conclusion, deforestation is a human activity that is destructive and should be

discouraged. Environmental conservation is our responsibility because we have only
one earth to live in.
