Adriane Dominguez ANALYZE and REFLECT Women’s Rights, Magna

Carta for Women, Other Laws Related to Women

1. From the lectures, list THREE (3) of your significant learnings from the topic discussed.

I learned that the laws emphasize the principle of gender equality, recognizing the rights of
women to be treated equally with men in all aspects of life. This includes areas such as
employment, education, and political participation. Also the Magna Carta for Women addresses
violence against women, providing legal mechanisms for the protection of women from all forms
of violence, whether in the workplace, at home, or in public spaces. And lastly I learned That
legislation aims to empower women economically, socially, and politically. It recognizes the
importance of ensuring women's active participation in decision-making processes and
promoting their economic independence.

2. Discuss TWO (2) for EACH legal implications and applications of the Law on Women in the
professional conduct and practice of Political Science. Enumerate and explain.

Political Science professionals must be cognizant of and advocate for gender-inclusive policies
in governance and political structures. The laws on women's rights emphasize the importance of
promoting women's participation in political processes, encouraging professionals to work
towards achieving gender balance in political institutions. and they need to be aware of and
address gender-based violence in the political sphere. The legal frameworks provide mechanisms
for reporting and addressing such issues, urging professionals to promote a political environment
free from gender-based discrimination and violence.

3. Share ONE (1) reflection or personal insights from the webinar lecture.

My reflection centers on the continuous need for societal awareness and education regarding
women's rights. While legislative frameworks are crucial, genuine change happens when there is
a collective effort to challenge and change societal attitudes and norms that perpetuate gender
inequality. Education and awareness campaigns play a pivotal role in complementing legal
measures to create a more equitable society.

"She's Beautiful When She's Angry" is a documentary film that explores the feminist movement
in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

One critique of the film is that it tends to focus on the experiences of white, middle-class
feminists, potentially neglecting the voices of women of color and those from different socio-
economic backgrounds. The feminist movement of the time was diverse, with women from
various ethnicities, classes, and backgrounds contributing significantly. The documentary could
have provided a more comprehensive picture by exploring the intersectionality within the
feminist movement. the documentary predominantly focuses on the feminist movement in the
United States. While the American feminist movement was undoubtedly influential, a more
global perspective could have enriched the film. Feminist movements were occurring
simultaneously around the world during that period, and acknowledging these international
perspectives would have contributed to a more nuanced understanding of the broader feminist
struggle.
