    In late 1500’s, Spaniards colonized Philippines for 333 years, yet start of using

    their abusive power by implementing laws that abused Filipinos. The Spanish
    authorities implemented laws called “BANDALA SYSTEM," which requires native
    farmers to sell goods at low price. The systems operated massive exploitation,
    corruption, and manipulation. Today, these system is no longer existing yet there are
    some law causing almost same effect. Farmers has rights with fair offer in the market
    price but Tariffication law gives rights to private sector to import rice so local farmers
    have to compete and solution is selling their crops at low price.
    Abuse Of Power
    The Philippines has a long history of power of abuse and corruption especially
    in Spanish colonial period and up until now. One of the examples of abuse of power
    that we might see today are Political Dynasty. Spanish colonial era established a so
    called system of privilege and power that favored a select few, often Spanish or
    mestizo families. This pattern of concentrated power laid the groundwork for modern
    political dynasties in the Philippines, where certain families continue to dominate
    local and national politics. Political dynasties concentrate political powers within a
    specific family or group of families.
    Socioeconomic inequality was also experienced by most Filipinos during this
    era. An example of this are Spaniards legally enslaved and traded Filipino captives
    that are non-christian, only those who are rich has the access to health care, the Polo y
    servicio - force labor without compensation, and limited educational degree's well as
    its teachings to prevent Filipino from revolting. In general, this inequality still affects
    and omnipresent not only because of foreign people but by also our own countrymen.
    According to Crisostomo(2019), there’s 77 illegal detention complaints against
    hospitals. Some hospital won’t accept patient without payment hence Republic act
    8344.
